SoCal backyard med grow 2022

some info about the grow...
Organic super soil (3rd year reuse) Amended with Espoma Garden Tone, frass, alfalfa, kelp, Azomite, Neem Meal, Lime, crushed oyster shells and worm castings for the mulch.
Various strains including Pineapple express, California Orange, Diet Durban, Peyote Gorilla and a handful of auto strains in the smaller bags for the mid season harvest. Med grow in CA. SB420 exemption papers on file.

That is a lot of smoke.
I'm happy to see you use Super Soil. I just did a rough cost study on it. Except for a little base soil I shouldn't have too ever buy nutes agian. My grandkids will finish it up years from now. That was around $350 or more for what would be 5 to 10 years. Thinking of it that way this is really pretty cheap.

I am more interested in your Diet Durbin. I am rushing one thru now. It's only 40 days. We had two cases of diabetes show up so the grow room have nothing but DD. I'll not grow more the one or two outside. This is Oklahoma and you never know if in October weather to wear shorts or an overcoat. That's when they say to harvast. I am curious about anything you can tell me about DD.

After each season I re-amend the soil with Espoma Garden Tone, alfalfa, frass and kelp. I also add some azomite for good measure and some fresh perlite for drainage. When I initially built the soil I bought 25lb bags of the additives and should not run out for some years to come. You dont have to juice the soil every year though I do.

Here is mine, I have not ever grown it before so I cant say anything in regard to the final product but so far it looks like a landrace sativa. Kinda airy in the flower dept with lots of hairs. I will post after harvest to let you know how it went and will update with newer pics till then.

Cool neighbors?
I'm also in so cal - in an area that allows outdoor personal grows - and have been hesitant as it's possible to see into our yard, depending on the vantage point (second story, etc.).

Looks great! Blue dream is probably my all-time favorite strain.

Very cool neighbors, one of them used to have a full on Operation in their garage though no longer. I only have two houses with any access/view of my yard and both are AOK. Thing is in this neighborhood everyone seems to grow. Just taking a walk around at night you can smell it everywhere. Not to mention its a very laid back neighborhood in the foothills so not too much traffic around here.

Its the fourth year growing at this location with no issues whatsoever, hope that keeps up.

Except for this year I don't grow outside in pots. It's way to hot here to enjoy growing in pots. Through this long hot spell we are just getting thru I had to water 3 times a day. It looked like they had their heads bowed praying for rain.

The ground was prepared by digging 4 foot dia holes about a foot and 1/2 deep. They were filled with 1/2 farm compost, 1/2 good soil form the hole (rich garden soil) and half a portion SS nutes (enough for 1 1/2 cubic bag of poting soil about 2 1/2 lbs.

A lot of people think you can't reuse SS. I've been doing it for several years.

It averages 95-100f around here this time of year, even hotter next month. I have found growing in 7gal bags and using an automated drip system seems to work best for my space currently. I could grow in ground here and have done so in the past but just like the mobility of the bag set up.

Heck, when I started doing super soil that was the main selling point. Reusing it indefinitely (with juicing it up along the way) Its not a cheap start up cost at over $500 for me (I bought 25lb bags of the amendments, soil mixer etc.) but I have the best soil I can get my hands on "On tap" so to speak. I plan on being at this location for some time so it seemed to make sense.

I'll plant 2 or 3 outside because that's where I'm the most comfortable This grow is important enough that I can't take the chance on Feb weather.

I'm doing another garden for my daugther and son-in-law, the DD, in a questionable place. Just outside the chichen about 10 feet from the fence. I was concerned about all the N from chicken manure but the weeds grow crazy there. Pot? I hope so. There is about a 50 foot run along the fence that gets the most sun. That whole area is about 30 x 70 feet with the end closed. I know chichens don't like pot so they will have free run almost up to the plants. Goodby grasshoppers.

I moved the baged plants into the shade a few times. For some reason I can't post pictures.

When I see a grow like yours I listen to what the grower says. One of gardens we call "Jaba the Quansit Hut. It was built before they loosened the MMJ laws. Its made from nine 4 foot x 20 foot goat panels arched up to 7 feet high and 12 feet wide at the ground. There are 9 of them and gives 35 feet garden. It has to go. All 5 plant have grown thru the wire and are now between 10 and 12 feet tall and not enough room to work. Can't believe how big they are. If I don't take it down I'll have to put short plants next year. I never thought I'd have the problem of too big of plants.LOL

I believe. When I made this batch I bought 5 lb boxs of everything I could, smaller on a few things. Of the $350 I spent that only included 3 bags od Roots Organic. 1/2 full boxes of some of it. I think it would be at least $500 if I bought the other 11 bags of Roots Organic.

My wife is getting getting a little jealious of my plants so next year I become a bluebarry farmer. I may have to amind the SS for them. Last year they were loaded. This you can only see that the soil is depleted. Side dressing won't be enought. Been thinking about taking that garden over for pot and move her berries to the the Jaba the Hut garden.

God, it's fun to grow pot.

I'd like to post a picture but they don't upload. Mine arn't as nicely cleaned as yours, but they are as good as most. What I'd like is some like yours. Mine looks like a jungle. One of the growers here, a disabled veteran, said something about bringing his jungle equipment. One of the gardens is arched 4 foot x 20 goat panels. 9 of them. That's about 34 feet long, 7 feet high at the top of the arch, and 12 feet wide. The plants are growing thru wire, not only the top, but the sides, too. It looks like a giant SCROG. We've been kalk about making it into one next year. But, we are also thinking about making the whole grow smaller LOL. Never thought I'd say something like that.

I would like to follow you through your next grow if you don't mind. If my plants were like yours I would not only be able to work them better but would probably get more bud.

Sure thing, I usually grow autos outdoors in the off season. They wont be as impressive as the photo's in the regular season but fun none the less.
