Soft White CFL's?

Ok I did a search for soft white, but did not find what I was looking for. I know cool white are better for Veg and warm white for flower.

What is soft white better for??

CFLs are produced in varying shades of white:
  • "Warm white" or "Soft white" (2700 K - 3000 K) provides a light very similar to that of an incandescent bulb, somewhat yellow in appearance;
  • "White", "Bright White", or "Medium White" (3500 K) bulbs produce a yellowish-white light, whiter than an incandescent bulb but still on the warm side;
  • "Cool white" (4100 K) bulbs emit more of a pure white tone; and
  • "Daylight" (5000 K - 6500 K) is slightly bluish-white.

Soft White has the flowering Spectrum you want.
Daylight cfls are blue spec.

I have bought 2 soft white CFLs so far. How big of a difference would using these to veg opposed to using cool white or daylight to veg? Big enough of a difference to go buy cool white for veg?

I couldnt answer that as i have used nothing but soft white CFL's, since they are the only one i can get in 42 watts. My plants have vegged nicely so far with these.

Ok sweet, I think I will just get a few more soft white as my plants grow more and then use them to flower!

remeber , 42 watts, 150w equiv. or higher if you can find them.

Go to your local grow shop and get some Full Spectrums. I have 3 55w CFL's, I have 7 plants 3 weeks old and I havent even hooked all them up yet. They are great lights. Check them out.

Ok well right now I have 2 29 watt CFL's giving off 2200 lumen each. I decided to get these becuase they give off more lumen/watt compared to some of the 42 watters I have seen which give 2700 lumens. I know it may not be a lot; but hey why not? Anyway, I plan on having at least 6 of them for a total of 13,200 lumens. I expect at least 2-3 males so hopefully this will be enough light...

As for the local grow shop, I have none around me...

sounds good, i would probobly do the same if they really are 2200, nice job.

You could veg under a soft white bulb. It will work. IMO the lighting spectrum of a CFL matters less than the number of lumens you have. MJ will grow from seedling to bud with CFLs of any spectrum.
