SoG Grow Room Discussion

Hey, I just wanted to drop in and tell you that you have a very nice setup and I have a few questions for you if you don't mind.

I went and looked at two different Home Depots for the all black "Tough Box" and I couldn't find them anywhere in the store

I was not able to find a similar water pump at any of the lowes or home depots,

What are the pumps rated?

Thanks, keep up the great work
hey adveragejohndoe,
the ECO 996 pump are 25w, purchased at at a local hydro shop
not sure why your local home depot doesn't carry the Tough Box
Lowes carries a similar box called Super Box (i may referred to it as Strong Box)
just as good if not a bit better if you intend to run it with a drain

Thanks for the reply. What is the amp of the pump? Like I was saying, I can find the watts everywhere, just can't find the amps.

What section/area of the store did you find the Tough Box? I think the layout of the store is the same on most.

I am guessing that is just a higher gph pump. Do you have to worry about temps at all? It gets hot here and I am trying to hold off on a chiller for a little while, I am going to try to use the smallest pump possible and cycle it 1 min on 5 off or so which should also help keep temps down.

Also, sorry one more, the other one, with the yellow lid, does it allow any light through? Can you hold it up close to a bright light and nothing shines through?

SOG have you tried uploading the pics directly on the posts... instead of albums...?

I have a lot of pics posted, but all in posts...

Just a thought... :o

i was talking with a guy at they hydro shop who said a cheap alternative to a chiller is to buy a few of those blue ice packs for your icechest and drop one in when your temps get to high i have not had to try this yet its winter but im sure i will be using ice packs this summer.

it doesnt work as well as you wished.. But its definitely better than nothing. buy extra to rotate them.

not exactly, more of a workaround ;)

oh..hehehe.. I hear ya man.. I was going to suggest breaking some rules. :o

i cant believe nobody can help you on this... LOL

oh well...:hump: so you liked the straight down angle better than toward each other kinda then?...

you get a better spread this way, with the misters at 90 degrees

hey man... In this other thread this guy had suggested just poking 1/8th holes I beleave that was the size... and he said it didnt need the little red sprayers... that they clog up often... can you try and see what size holes would work better?...

edit: actually never mind.. i cant see how that would work... I mean i dont think stream is what we are after... But then if the stream comes out towards the tops and sprays around.. or maybe towards the sidewalls and spray around?... I dont know.. I guess buying little nozzles arent that expensive... and you made the system easy enough to check it... Oh well i guess just thinking out loud...LOL

Thanks for the great pic's, SOG. What was the workaround you encountered? Also, I noticed that you added two more sprayers to the legs/endposts. That seems like a good way to get rid of some of the excess water/nutes that would be left in those legs, plus add more sprayers for the end plants...or am I wrong about what's going on there at the end?

np Shrike,
the workaround was posting the pictures as an attachment
instead of a regular album picture, until i run out of attachments quota

as for the extra mister at the end, i always planned on installing one at the end
just didn't plug it in because of its spraying angle,
i didn't want to much water splashing when i was testing outside the tubes,
a safety mister if you want to give it a name
a back sweep for all the plants, it also seem to help pushing the water down
at last for now without roots in the way
