don't take that as bible start of at half recommended and slowly increase the feeding regime looking for signs of over fert the plant will tell you if it needs feedings by starting to yellow up a little from the bottom
less is normaly more in these cases

I dont really do foliar sprays because I dont really veg my plants and I always have plants that are budding around my plants that are vegging (both rooms are on 12/12). I should take the time to take them outside of the room and spray the younger plants but there is a bit of laziness involved. I will foliar spray a little bit on my babies through the winter though because I am home full time and I will often have a compost tea brewing.

Compost teas are wicked and they work best in an all organic environment but for foliar spraying, they are great all around. You basically spray microbes/nutrients on the leaves and it protects them from pest and disease and make them grow stronger/healthier.

In the summer I was using a sprayer similar to this one http://www.homedepot.ca/product/ms20h-handheld-sprayer/934920 to foliar spray my veggie garden, it works amazingly well, a little will go a long way and cover the leaves very well.

Additional info about compost teas:

If you were to start brewing compost tea for foliar feeding, most likely you would also want to use it to feed your plants. I do not want to point you in the wrong direction so you would have to research how well compost tea would work with flora nova. From what I remember, flora nova might not be certified organic but it is all about keeping the soil food web alive unlike most chemical fertilizer. If that's the case, they would work great together. If you have some time to kill I would strongly recommend reading the first post in this sticky: https://www.rollitup.org/organics/427826-soil-food-web-gardening-compost.html

I am just getting into compost teas and they are fascinating and will help you grow wicked dank if you learn how to make it and use it properly. Its all about keeping the soil alive and roots happy...

Happy growing girls :bigjoint:

Compost teas are very good I use simple versions in the veg garden all the time as you can see from my man mr E's results they do indeed work well and once you work it out its a great way to grow
you just have to decide what route you are going down organic or chem it is two different styles of growing
chem wise you would just add the normal feed you use for the the roots and foliage spray about every 4-5 days at a weaker dilution(50%) again care should be taken to watch out for overfeeding
Its also a great way to react when a plant is ill or suffering a deficiency or if you have some root problems as it will have a more immediate affect
also there are some beneficial's which work well when sprayed just ensure the lights aren't left on whilst the plants are wet or you may have scorching issues
generally foliage feeding should be part of your care schedule and applied at a PH of 6

Foliar Feeding: I typically use < 200 PPM of the same nutes I am feeding AFTER 2-3 node. Prior to that I use ~60ppm of Himalayan Salt

Looking at the pics of the surface of the cups, it appears your veg light has too much red. During sprouting you want mostly blue, which can come from cool white leds, or blue leds (430-500)

Think how nature grows and simulate her as best you can. Seeds do not germ in winter (too cold). You can fake spring planting by adding a heating pad ~ 70*s

You are right petflora, but I have had no problem with the reds in veg, the only thing is they might be a waste of power but it doesnt hurt anything in my experience.

Regarding foliar feeding during veg, you should get in the room about 30min -1hour before the light goes on to do the foliar sprays so that when the light goes on, you have the light at full intensity on a bunch of freshly sprayed plants (when they are wet it does like a magnifying glass where the water sits on the leaves) If you got good air circulation, 30 min should be enough for them to dry

Unless you were to add anything else to your compost tea should you look at the PH, compost tea is neutral and if done properly is always at about PH 5.5 . the microbes and all the goodies are going to make it happen and it is ok to spray it at PH 5.5 ... I dont ever look at my PH :bigjoint:

Happy Halloween.
Ok you need to bring those LEDs down within a foot make sure the blues are on for tighter nodes the idea behind led was to get heat and usable spectrums in the right ranges to lower power consumption and being able to get the light as close as possible to the plants for better canopy penetration.

Wrong, you do not want to put that light "as close as possible". It will fry those little seedlings.

They need to raised up some actually, for seedlings, 1/2 power @ 30" is where that light is meant to be. Trust me ;-)

Eraserhead has it right respect!!!! seven leaf you really shouldn't be giving advice if you don't know what you are talking about
sorry just saying it as I know it ;) If they were 1 watt diodes then maybe the distance would be ok
with 3 watt diodes seedligs wont preform well with the light closer than 30" and will suffer as a result

We will be raising the lights to 30 inches above the seedlings. The lights are on half power.

We fed the seedlings for the first time last night. Day 5 of Veg. It looks like 2 don't want to pop :(

140ppm and 6.4pH

-1ml of Super Thrive
-1ml of Flora Nova Grow
-1ml of Cal/Mag
-1ml of Worm Juice

oh dear this might be hard work I feel like your dad :spew:ok they need nothing but plain water for ages yet.... until at least the 4th node .... I think you might need to read a book about the basics....ITS COMMON TO TRY AND BRING ON A PLANT TOo QUICKLY but feeding it at this stage doesn't help any
what that ppm in EC?
Looking good in the photos

150 PPM = 0.3 EC

We will use 0PPM (0 EC) and 6.3 pH water next watering
