sog or large plants for max yield in 3x10

i am all over the map with differient questions today but here's a new one. For the highests yielding crop should i want to grow sog or larger plants for a little longer.

what is a good amount of plants for growing in a 3x10 area sog vs 3x10 when growing larger plants??
