I'm wondering if anyone has used oil-dri instead of perlite for soil aeration and drainage. I had planned to mix 3 parts happy frog to 1 part oil-dri. I did a search and it was mentioned in one post here: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/308491-soil-question.html, but found little else. I use oil-dri in my cactus mix and it works well, I hate perlite.

too many chemicals, cacti store their water so what happens wont be found till months later. why try and reinvent the wheel?
It's a natural earth product.
Like I said, I don't like perlite. Not necessarily trying to reinvent the wheel.
Massah, I appreciate you stopping in to comment, but you're completely wrong.it also breaks down and turns to mush....so if you want to suffocate your root system...go for it
This product is insoluble in water.
Perlite is a nasty, dusty mess.
Vermiculite lacks any structure that would hold up in a soil mix. It's like wet cardboard.

I have happy, healthy, plants in mixes that contain oil-dri. I only stopped by to see if anyone has used it for MJ, as I have only used it for cacti and herbs.
