They are kinda leafy, for cuttings, but should be okay. The sun probably is a bit too much for them, atm, because they are trying to focus on growing new roots, rather than photosynthesizing. Putting them in the sun, is like putting them under HIDs. Right now, you want weak light. The main purpose of light right now, is to keep them on their photoperiod, like 18/6, 24/0, etc....(i prefer 18/6, because I believe the dark period helps trigger rooting) Basically, all ya want is some weak CFLs, a shoplight, or something that isn't very powerful, or something backed off plenty. I use a 18" fluoro tube, the kind that's above your oven,(for example) and don't even care what the spectrum is. The plants dont either, because they're trying to grow downwards, not upwards.
I get rooting times of 5-8 days, typically.
Also,...I agree, it's a good thing to take the dome off for a few mins, a couple times a day, for fresh air.(I like to leave my vents open, about halfway) That'll help prevent molds, too. Skip the fan idea though, it's not a good idea to have your cuttings moving around, like blowing in a breeze, until they've taken root. I try not to move mine AT ALL, leaving my dome where it sits, and being gentle, while misting them. Call me picky, but mine always take root fast.
A heat mat might help too. I use one, and don't have a thermostat, so i set it to kick on and off, every 15 mins. Seems to work great, with the ambient room temp at about 70*. Keeping it on constantly, is a bit much for them, and causes them to wilt.
Will these root out? How long before I can set them in the sun for veging? Thank You !
