I'm about to start my first outdoor grow. I'm not really goinga all out for this grow just keeping it simple (so I'm not trying to spurned a lot of $ on some special seedling soil). Just something basic that will start them off with good root and stem systems and all. I'm going to germinate my seeds then plant them in little cups. What kind of soil should I use in the cups? After the cups obviously I'll transfer them into a bigger pot permanately. Most Likely 3 gal. Pots with fox farm ocean forest soil.

U could use the ocean forest just fine..anything is fine really...My recomendation is plant them in Peat Pellets (jiffy pellets) first and let them develop untill you see roots coming out of the pellet then you move them into a cup. If your using in the cup soil that has nutrients already than you can add a bunch of perlite and/or verm or some neutral material to make it a little more light weight and be on the extra safe side but really the fox farm ocean forest straight shouldnt burn them.

Or if you are using fox farm products then they have something for seedlings its called: Light Warrior

but again all that I think is unessecary never had a problem with nute burn or something when using soil that has nutes for seedlings in the peat pellets method I describe above.

That's what I'm planning on using for my 3 gal. Containers but ive read that ffof could burn seedlings especially seeds really bad if you put either in straight up.
By the way I'm not trying to add anything else to the soil, just using it out of the bag. Well except nutrients later on

it likely wont but if you use jiffy pellet you buy some time for when they are really young...if your really worried and just want to use something premixed then get anything that is called 'seed starter' - the best is prolly either that happy frog or light warrior from fox farms thou - it has hardly any nutes and is ment for starting seeds.

or u can always just get a bale of promix and use that and than control your nutes manually
