Soil has a bunch of bugs in it,now what?

So my new white widow seeds come in 2 days ago and most have their little tails out so im thinking perfect i'll plant them tonight and by 6am turn on the lights to begin their cycle. But reading this forum constantly for the last month I learn 1 thing, check the soil for bugs. So as im checking the "scott premium" soil i see a shit load of fucking bugs crawling around. Good thing I didnt put it in their but now im 100% sure im not going back to that home depot. Do i go to walmart and by the same brand potting soil or do I just use a different brand all together?

Well i fixed my problem, i just microwaved the shit out of the soil and nothings crawling around anymore.

They might even make a good fertilizer

too bad u cant do that while ur plants are vegging and then u see thousands of bugs...

I wondered myself about micro soil... lol
like when you microwave a bag of flour to see if there are any weevles in em..

I just dump buggy soil, plus if I went to home depot I would havent taken it back and threw a shit fit. lol

wow...didn't think about the "nuke the bugs" solution...i bought three bags of soil from three dif stores and each had bugs...stoner me thought that perhaps that was normal...wound up with fungus gnats on my four plants - which were growing beautifully, but then they all turned out to be male so I think the bugs stressed them out...starting anew now and my soil is bugless...hope for fems this time...peace

I would sugest getting a high quality soil like sunshine mix #1 or #4 ad avoid anything from big box stores. They are usually fortified with fertilizers that are not the best for growing marijuana. You also have no control of the fertilizers makeup. That makes it hard to grow for veg first then change to flower.
As a side note you dont need any light till the sprouts have popped out of the dirt. It wont hurt to have it on but it not doing anything for you.
