Soil issues

so I am having extreme issues with my soil this time, i used soil from plants that had root rot last time, as well as old soil that contained alot of dead roots that are i assuming just starting to decay. My seeds are having issues popping through the soil! If they do pop out of the soil, they start to fall over within a day. I think i once again gave to much water, but nearly like last time. I didn't sterile the old soil issue. Do you guys think that was my issue? I used fox farm ocean soil.

Did you re-use the soil that you knew killed your plants, that we told you not to use and to clean the roots out of if you did? Or are you continuing from the last issue because you were not satisfied with the answer?

I didn't reuse the soil. Im just wandering if this was really the issue. What is done has been done since 2 weeks ago. Im not reusing dirt ever again!!! Im just wandering is this the cause of all my issues. I really dont need people acting nasty, o have my own issues at this point with life and growing. I am taking your advice though from last post. This was just a question about is that the main issue, not if I could redo the same mistake

So you re used the soils knowing you had root problems on the last run man kinda asking for it you Wana start off each run as clean as possible and get the soldiers ready to flip 12 12 for the journey

I really think its your soil and over watering (from worry/tending to the plants too much). Try to get something with way less nutrients and add them gradually in. Happy frog or something near that. First plants are a bitch, for a majority of people, and a great learning experience.

Even more important: stop programming yourself for doubt and failure. Doubt is a weapon to be used on your enemies, it causes death spirals. Its easy to be programmed into doubt, which is why most of society fails.

I know I come off as aggressive, but you need to have more faith in yourself and stop expecting shit results. Force yourself to be positive, call yourself out on your negative thoughts, and your mind will free up anxiety to see the route you need to take. You most likely have resources all around you to fix your issues your just caught up in a minor upset.

You made it this far and saw enough in yourself to invest in yourself, it must be meant to be. Learn from your mistakes, clear the mind, find new soil, and start over if you have to. If you can get soil fast enough, you can probable transplant the seedling into new soil.

Focus on getting photoperiod plants, autoflowers are a gamble. If you like seeds, start a mother from seed, clone from there. Its best to get all this out of the way at the start because it takes some time and you will most likely end up at that point after the autoflowers keep flopping anyway.

Best of luck to you.

I reuse soil and coco all the time and never have any problems. You're seedlings likely dampened off from over watering and creating the environment for pythium or other fungus's to grow. If you're using a dome for your seedlings stop. And use a spray bottle to mist the top of the soil just to keep it damp. You don't want wet soil you want moist soil.

Ya im realizing autos are a bitch. I suffer with anxiety, so ya . Yep I'm just getting rid of this soil. I came to that conclusion yesterday. Im just waiting to see if these guys recoup or not. I have a problem with failure. Im like that in college were I over stress myself. Im not a quitter though. That is one thing I'm not! I was looking at happy frogs, but i may call up my local nursery to see if they have good soil there like the guy said yesterday. Mabe they can give me help with questions I have as well. Next time I'm going to do one cup of water for 3-4 days, after that check the soil, if it needs water do it, if not let it go another day. For big pots your looking to see if dirt dust sticks to you, and the ground is cool right? I never had problems with photos, the only issue I had with photos is poor lighting. A window nor cheap shop will grow weed . This was when I was young and didn't have the capability of growing, but i still went for it.

After using FFOF for years because thats all I knew about, I switched to a supersoil / living soil style and am never going back. I really think FFOF is a poor choice for new growers bc by design its supposed to be supplemented with bottled nutes.

I have switched to just buying my soil from BuildASoil instead. The quality is so amazing I could never go back. Im on my first run with it all the way through- at week 4 of flower now and I have the best plants I ever grew and I have done nothing but water them. I am trying out veganic so I am even just using their Light soil mix. My friends are using the Olly mt fish compost LOS w killer results too, but honestly my plants are thriving and I dont think I even need the extra oomph. Even if I threw out the soil every run, I think it would come close in cost to buying cheap soil + bottles + labor/time mixing and chasing nute deficiencies the whole time. Im not sure if I will continually recycle it but I'm definitely going to run it multiple times and just ammend w ewc and maybe glacial rock dust. I have a friend on his 3rd round with it and his yields and plants are still amazing doing just that. I would highly recommend buying at least a 1/2 cu ft bag and trying it out on one plant and see what you think.

I am sure there are other good super soils for cannabis out there too, I just haven't used any of the others to know what to recommend. But I definitely think it is going to save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run.

I totally agree with FFOF being a bad choice for new growers. That’s what I started with because I always Heard that was the best soil out there for cannabis. If you use it to early it’s much to hot for small plants. After switching to something less hot ie roots organic I’ve had much better results. Adding nutes is not that that difficult.
