Soil moisture sensor for vacation

Hey guys.. I'm leaving for vacation for 8 days and would like to set up auto water system.. I did some research and can't seem to find a soil sensor that has an app to display the current conditions by wifi. All seem to be Bluetooth.

My plan for the auto water
10 gallon reservoir for my 3 4 gallon pots, a small pump with tubing , air stone and a wifi outlet. A soil moisture sensor connected to an app , so I can check the soil anywhere I am. When soil indicates dry, I'd simply turn on the wifi outlet and let then pump run..

Every 3 days I have to water but having a sensor will make me feel better being away.


Anyone have suggestions or tips on this? Thanks

If it were me, I'd just use a webcam to know when the sensor read dry, then initiate watering. Plus, you wouldn't be blind and could have that extra peace of mind.

Yeah I was going to do that, I have a couple nest cams laying around..
