hey all, just curious to some opinions on which is better, a soiless mix??

yes it is my first time but I believe that taking the easy route is not always better so Im wondering what the best way to go is.... and should I use the same mix through all of the trasplants or do I need to change something???

also at what heigth do I tranfer the clones (which are in rockwool) to the 6in pots??

soil is better to learn first. as hydro nutes can be difficult. if you want more of a chance for success your frist time i'd go with soil

I am old school. I only use soil and believe that it is easiest for beginners. Transfer your clones when they are root bound.

hello mr weed...

which is better? depends on what you want...

if this is your first grow.. soil is definitley a great place to start...

thanks guys.... Oh yeah... I saw something about a straight vermiculite/perlite/worm castings mix... it sounded pretty simple, is that a good way to go?

Hey weed.. you can keep it pretty simple with a soil + perlite grow....
Worm casting are good... I tend to stay away from vermiculite...

cheers

80% soil
20% perlite

Perlite is special cause it really makes over watering, nearly impossible... ( i hope I don't eat those words)..

You could/should put a piece of newsaper down on the bottom of your containers, covering the drainage holes.. and then pour in .5 inch of perlite on the bottom... this will give you added drainage and prevent root rot..

cheers

i heard in a video that the fumes from perlite and vermiculite weren't good to inhale, but they didn't say it was deadly. heard it in "hans" sea of green video.

im thinking of running my current grow op in soil, and starting another soon in a hydro system...im not too sure, that depends if im gonna use it all for myself, or sell some..........which i still haven't decided, i mean, im happy with it for myself, but ya know, a few extra bucks dont hurt...anyway, sorry for rambling...ummmm...im goin with soil and perlite right now, NPK balance is 10 8 6...it's working as my two newest seedlings (planted last night) have both sprouted above the surface earlier this afternoon! anyway, good luck, mate...
