Soil PH?

do i have to test the run off water with the digital type?.... or is it straight in the soil?
Yes, you test runoff. Test before you plant, during veg and flower. If you used the right amount of lime in the right kind of soil, your runoff ph will stay the same throughout your grow. Runoff ph may not be an accurate measurement of actual soil ph, but it is an excellent diagnostic tool if you know where your runoff ph should be. I'm almost 10 weeks into flower, and my runoff ph is the same as day 1... no up/down, only lime.

There are no affordable, handheld meters that accurately measure soil ph. If you want an accurate soil ph measurement, you have to either send it out to a lab or spend hundreds on equipment. But a $25 milwaukee will do just fine for runoff.
