Soil Pots Question

What kind of container would be best for a 3-gallon pot? I've read and read, but I can't find anything. I've read about drainage and everything and I have no clue what it means. I figured I'd just get a big 3 gallon pot and keep watering it until it dries out completely and then re-water. Is it necessary to drain? I was gonna flush my plant 3 weeks before harvest to make it smoke better, how would I go about doing that?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I just want everything to go right

Sorry but you need holes in the pot so water doesnt stagnate at the bottom so yes it is necessary to drain. Otherwise it causes a bunch of problems including root rot. Drill holes if you have to and water until it drips from the bottom of the pot

like the serious 1 says .. drilll holes at the bottom and the and the sides at the bottom... a good centimeter sized 1s id say. may be bigger as like the serious 1 says. u dont want ya water 2 stagnate and create rotting ect.. the better the drainage is the less chance of rott...

I planned on having my whole closet lined in 2 mil mylar, even the floor. so could these draining pots just sit on the mylar or what would be the best way to have that set up?

3 gallon pots are big enough for most indoor plants. I you buy them from a grow stoe/nursery they will already have holes in them but if your using a bucket or something than you'll need to do that. I use small 2'' pots or party cups to germinate seeds. Once tthey pop and start growing the small pot need to be transplanted to a party cup or a gallon size. After about 3 or 4 weeks of veg, up can move up to the 3 gallon. By doing this, you can keep the plants in a smaller area when they are younger. Also, it gives the plant fresh soil instead of it being leached away over nuerous waterings. I'd suggest some kind of tray to catch the water that leaks out the bottom. The easier it is to drain and dispose of the better.

So I should germinate the seeds and plant them in a party cup. Leave them in there for 4 weeks of veg, then move to the 3 gallon. Could you explain the tray idea? Right now I was just gonna have them on the towel for 30 mins and then move them straight to the dry mylar.

some good and some bad. I hate making space cakes and rolling joints sometimes but its good to get wages in hash or weed and meet people from all around the world. I prefer working the bar and giving drinks and just selling da weed or hash thats ready bagged.

I would love doing that for a shop for free, much less getting paid to do it

Party cups are good for a week or 2, then move up to a gallon for a few weeks and finally to your 3 gallon pots. As far as trays, anyway that will collect the excess water will be okay.

Here is a picture of my 3 gal pots with a trays under them ... growing White Widow. I went 2 weeks in Solo cups and then straight to 3 gal pots. I only do 1 transplant whenever possible ... works for me, but transplanting to a 1 gal and then a 3 is probably better. Hope this help clear things up for ya!

How are you mixing your soil? Because straight potting soil can hold a lot of water for a long time.
