Soil prep/raised beds for spring veggies!

This will be my first time making my own soil.

I plan on building raised beds here in suburbia (any suggestions?)

What's the best homemade soil recipe for various veggies? Peppers, tomatoes etc. I plan on all organic everything obv.

Planning time. How long do I need to prep/cook the soil. I.e. if I start ordering stuff in February, will I be ready to rock in April.

Feel free to link me/suggest anything. I'm a blank slate... have no idea what I'm doing!

I recommend finding all the good local sources of soil/amendments too, like a lot of cities sell compost, and there is usually some kind of bulk compost/soil seller nearby. Check and see if there are any worm castings farms nearby too. Sourcing your main amendments locally really helps with the cost. Oh, and feed stores are great for bales of straw for mulch, alfalfa pellets, and rice hulls.

I’ve having great results with coots mix. Feed supply stores have the best prices. Basalt is the only thing I have to get shipped.

One year I swear I was down there waiting to shoot the deer in the damn face,no lie
We planned for deer and planted over 100 tomatoes plants. Actually tomatoes. They topped them for us and we lost a couple on the edge. Worked out well.

Then during hunting season I got the biggest one.

On a dry year they will get almost every one.I had fence 5 ft and bird netting up to 8 ft.They still jumped into it a couple times and I had to fix it.I think it scared them so last year no problems.
