Soil Replacement

This is my first question on a site that promotes medical marijuana. I hope I can get it on without doing it over a couple times. I started my seeds in miracle grow bought at Lowes. They are doing great, have topped them twice for SCROG. They are around six weeks old, with lots of bud sites coming on. Since starting this project, which is my first indoor grow, I have learned that time release nutrients is a bad thing in the flowering stage. I understand I need to go to an organic soil and add the nutrients as needed. I would like to switch out soil when I switch to 12/12 on lights. My question is should I attempt to do this at this time? Will this harm roots even if I handle like a new baby? Or should I continue on with what I have and start next grow with the right soil?. Is there another way to handle this situation with my soil? Will be looking forward to some feed back on subject, don't get to compare notes to often Thanks.

If the Miracle Grow soil didn't fry your seeds I don't know what will.
If they are in not too big of pots, just repot them in bigger ones with some half way decent soil.
Just carefully extract it from the pot, being slightly dry helps as this keep clumps of dirt from ripping half your roots off. Bang slightly on sides of pot to loosen soil.
Just treat it and the roots like a baby while transplanting and you should be fine. ( roots are precious...precious..Gollum )
Nothing wrong with time release soil in flowering, I repot a week from flowering myself.
I just wouldn't use Miracle Grow.

There are many different types of time release soils. Some are overkill ( MG I'm looking at you ) and others are more benign.
Since all nutes in soil mixes are time released anyway. And will be used up eventually, so you will need to start nuting at some time regardless.

I repot mine a week from flower from 1 gallon to 3 gallon and they just explode ( 75 % 707 and 25% Sunshine,,,with some dolomite and cal/mag ) 3 weeks later I know the soil nutes have decreased enough where I need to increase nutes even more without burning the plant.

If it really starts to bother you, just repot using some decent grow soil and you'll be fine.
If the plant is fine and the pot is size is fine, just leave alone and nute accordingly as the nutes in MG will be used up eventually.

My first grow was MG, and while it was only one grow i had less burn then i have with FFOF. There are other factors but i just thought id throw that in, dunno why lol.

Thanks for the info, you have put some thoughts in my mind. I do have the ability to upgrade to a bigger pot, and I will swap out the miracle grow with a different soil. Also I did start the seeds in a regular seed starting soil after soaking 24 hrs. so they weren't damaged at all. I do feel like I can swap out most of the soil without damage to roots. I was hoping to get a good start on the taste and flavor before I even started drying and curing.

Yeah by no means was i trying to say that miracle grow was a good growing medium. Im just also not happy with FFOF. Im trying to find a good soil, but im running out of options.

any recommendations? what soil are you going to switch to?

I just thought, I did a little research on Lowe's Organic Soils they have one type that was organic but also had time release fertilizer. It did have some good ingredients, can't remember name, just type in organic on your local store.

I dont remember the name but i tried an organic brand from lowes, it was really cheap tho around 3 bucks, it was terrible soil, actually nothing grew with it.

I wouldnt worry about it, if you repot just try not to cause any trauma to the root system.
The time rekease wil plobably be spent up by the time you finish flower anyways.
Id upgrade with a decent soil mix and by decent i mean a more expensive organic mix,
Try your local nursery. Pluss bigger oits mean bigger buds, or bigger roots = bigger fruits.
Halpy growing.
