Solo cup grow or small container in general

Need some tips . Have a few seedlings in solo cups and a few in 1 gallons already on the 3rd week. Want to keep the smaller ones in the solo cups but I’m not sure if I’ll run into issues with roots or what the deal is . Anyone have any tips? I was thinking of putting the solo cups up high to the same level as the 1 gallons so the canopy will all be relative and throwing a net In there. Any solid tips?

Depends on your grow medium and what you are feeding them.

If you dont mind feeding/watering a few times a day you can keep them in solo cups but its probably more effort than its worth. And you are going to yield less than if you even just used 1 gallons.

There are lots of threads on here with solo cup grows that people do for fun. Im sure you can pickup some tips from that. Also check out growweedeasy.com for other growing basics that will help you out.

If you are growing in soil, there won't be any food left by week 2 or so, so you will need to feed liquid nutes. Look into how people feed with coco dtw. Using coco or even just straight rockwool or perlite would probably be easier than soil but either way you will need to water/feed multiple times per day.

Is this just an experiment or are you hoping to get a decent yield from these plants? Solo cups in soil I wouldn't expect more than a few grams each. You can probably get 10-20 grams off a plant in a 1 gallon pot with the same effort. Dont even have to veg it longer but just uppotting it once will give the roots some more room to stretch. You will still need to feed nutes in a 1 gal pot for flower but would be a much better result.

Also one other thing. Usually when people run in such small containers they are using clones that are already sexually mature and can be flowered as soon as they root..

Running from seed in small containers and flipping them when they are so young is going to increase your risk of herms. I personally would veg those for 6 weeks at least, take clones, and flower the clones in whatever size container you want. I still would go for at least 1 gal pots, but if you really wanna do solo cups at least you will have a better chance of success.

I don’t care much for hell’s on the solo cups. That’s what the other three are for . These are more to see what will happen . For fun type of thing. I have them in coco perlite mix right now and use advanced nutrients ph perfect line. I was gonna do 1 gallons for them but figured it’d be fun to see them stay in the solo cups.

Cool I would definitely study the Solo Cup grow contest threads and see what methods the people that won those used. You should be able to pick up some solutions from there.

I really don’t see much help happening on here unless I really press someone. Sort of more showing off of what they got out of it instead of how they got there. Once you ask you’re stupid lol
