Some advice on starting off with seedlings

Hi, I am going to be starting my first outdoor grow soon, and I had one important question that I wanted to ask but couldn't find the answer to.

For my grow I am going to be starting with seedlings, germinating them and everything, so the plants won't be very large when I first transplant them (probably from small pots or cups) and they may have a hard time fending for themselves. At most I will be able to have them a few inches tall but nothing major (maybe around 6 inches).

If I use mothballs and other stuff to repel animals and insects, do you think my plants will be fine starting off? If this is risky then I can always start a few extra plants just in case.

Thanks!

ya 6" should be fine. so long as they got at least 3 sets, after that you dont' really got to worry about slugs (which is your major insect concern for smaller seedlings). go with a leaf polish like neem or something. and remember... PREVENT, DON'T TREAT!
