Some News Leaves People Knowing Less

So I think this is something a lot of us already realize but I had a jolly time reading this report. According to this report, people who watch Fox News, for example, are less likely to know about politics and current events. Obviously that isn't surprising, but it is an entertaining read nonetheless. Some snips:

Fox news is "Officially" not a news service, it is categorized as an entertainment venue, that is why they can get away with making up a whopper of a lie and presenting it as truth. Then again, it may be that Fox News tends to attract the less educated and more passive person than such luminaries of information like NPR. After all, people like bread and circuses, and Fox is definitely a circus sometimes. Of course every network has their idiots and their gems, Fox has Judge Napolitano but then again it has lots of pretty blondes who are about a smart as a box of raisins. Of course MSNBC is like the anti FOX network, but their propaganda is just a different flavor.

At least Fox makes an effort to try to be balanced. Have you ever watched the Five? That is some funny shit!

news is simply information and information is as good as what you do with it.

one of my friends on facebook brought this up to his family. his mom posted a link to a "study" that showed that msnbc viewers are less informed and claimed that there was a study for everything.

i pointed out to her that the link she posted was to a satirical article on corvetteforums.com and asked if she watched fox news. she said she did, proudly.

i just shook my head and walked away. people who watch fox news (and not just for the yucks) are generally poor consumers of information to begin with, it wouldn't matter what they watch. they would still get it wrong no matter what they watch.

where did i say "if people don't think like me, they can't think..."?

i never wrote that. that is one of those things that makes me sure that you are a bad consumer of information. seeing things that are not there.

i watch fox news everyday, kind of. You see my boss at work got a tv for our lobby and while working i listen to it regularly and my boss is a very big fan of fox news so thats the channel it stays on unless a football or baseball or basketball game involving a team from the state is on. it is not balanced at all. it hurts me to listen to it sometimes i get so mad i want to rip the tv out of the wall. lies lies lies propaganda lies lies lies rumor nonsense lies lies a tiny bit of truth lies nonsense. they should be ashamed of themselves.

I do not believe in censorship of any kind. That being said FOX "fair and balanced" is not allowed to be on in my home.

As fucked up as FOX is this does not fall into the category of censorship, it falls under self preservation from brain cancer. FOX News = :spew:
