the water in my bubbleponics setup is smelling really bad. i changed it yesterday because there was an algae problem and put fresh water nutes and some hygrozyme in it. today the temps in my tent got to about 90 and now the water is smelling bad and when i put a ph test strip in the water it instantly changes like all green and the colors just bleed away. it looks like there also might be some algae on the roots is there something i can do to get that off? please any help is appreciated

Algae can be a bitch, rearlly not sure what you can do if its in your root system. But when you switch out the water you would need to clean the reservoir very well and I would suggest using something to sterilise the tank, something like hydrogen peroxide (HP) is ideal as the will kill algae spores and help oxygenate the root system an water supply, its good to add HP to the tank daily, no need for air lines and stones when using HP either.

You should always use Hygrozyme, Roots Excelurator and Great White Mycorrhizea. Consistent water temps with bi-weekly cleanings will ensures a healthy reservoir/root system. You may also want to look into using Drip Clean. I have had optimum success in all mediums with this combination.

The smell is definitely from the algae and the water temp. You may need to invest in a water chiller/heater and possibly upgrade your air stones if you are unable to manage your room temp easily. Your discoloration sounds like a chemical reaction from your nutrients and your ph level. Your water temp is important when trying to control ph levels. If your temp is all over the board, so is your ph more than likely. Especially if you are on well water.

As for your Bubbleponics system, I have had only second hand experience with these and they proved to be very difficult to manage ph and ppm. The bubbleponics system has 1-2 refill or main reservoirs and a water level regulated feeding reservoir for every 6 plant sites. Meaning you have to ph and ppm every res separately if things get all out of wack. If you have more issues with this system, you may want to consider DWC or Ebb and Flow. You can easily convert to DWC with your existing setup.

Anyway, I hope this helps.

cut it clean it start over keep your water oxygenated and light out of the resovoir and change and clean your res once every week or two itll be fine

thanks for all the suggestions :).

i think its the temps that were screwing me. i'm using a tent and its extremely dependent on room temp and when i got in today the temp at the bucket was 90 so the temp in the bucket was more than likely way too high. i think i really need to get the centrifugal fan for exhaust and get a good intake fan help stabalize the temp inside the tent to what it is in the room. im using 3x 105 cfl 1 multi-spectrum and 2 veg and i'm having to keep them a foot and a half away from the plants to keep the temp right

i went ahead and clean the whole thing again(i just did this yesterday because of the algae) the temps have been around 80 now at the bucket (about 1" lower than plant height) and ph now is around 5.5. i have two layer of black duct tape covering the open holes on the bucket and two net pot covers for the ones with plants in them is that enough or should i go ahead and tape the whole top? or get that reflective tape for the it instead? and i dont have another resevoir with my systems just the one 6 pot 8 gal bucket of which im using two pots so i dont have to worry about the ph from another res messing with anything.

by the way just using the prepackaged nutes that come from stealthhydro if anyone has used the hygrozyme with the regular nutes could you let me know if it changes the look or smell of the water? thanks again for the help so far :)
