Why?
To communicate with their people indirectly. They may not be able to have a hush-hush meeting and discuss the destruction of lives out loud. So, a few people make the decision and then the information is disseminated through known means... like one of the longest running shows on TV.
I'm not trying to say this is by any means true. Just a reasonable explanation to the question you posed.
Also, you worked in intelligence gathering during the 9-11 attack and you're trying to brag about that??? I'd never, EVER, mention that I was in any way involved with supporting our countries intelligence infrastructure during this time. Definitely something I'd leave off the resume.
The most compelling things I've seen is the lack of plane wreckage at the Pentagon site and the "implosion" of the trade center buildings indicating pre-placed explosives.
I don't want to detract from the Heroism of that day, but I'm a firm believer that if someone could do some shit like this to our country it'd been the Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney dynasty. If some day the news organizations found out the "truth" that it was all a big conspiracy to drum up war support, I'm not going to be surprised.
