i got two white widow plants (clones) i bought them on dec.4 and put them under the lights the same day. i use organic soil, i let them grow for a month before i started puttin nutrients (organic), on jan 7., its feb 13 2010 and barely stopped with the nutrients cuz the white hairs are starting to turn red, i dont know when to harvest, they say 10 weeks but i wanted to let them grow more so i can get more weed but it seems like im not gunna be able to.. the plant looks healthy, its frosty and here and there, theres frosty spots everywhere i dont know if thats good or bad this my first grow, can anyone tell me if i can let them vegitate a lil longer even tho the hairs are turning red or do i have to harvest????? i notice the plants really tell you everything if your doing it right or wrong, but im still iffy.. i also have another question do you get alot of weed from the clones they sell at coffee shops???

pics would help out alot. also i highly reccomend getting a 20x magnifying glass that way you could take a look at the little crystals and you can go by the color of the crystals. but ten weeks is good for a white widow any longer and you wont get as high as you would with ten weeks

You'll get as much or more with dispensary clones. The clones are usually taken from the cloner's best plants. They want to make people happy in order to sell more. Not ALWAYS the case, but usually. The most important thing in getting bud is your growing expertise.

Are these cluster actual crystals or small circular white patches? I know its a pain but pics say a million words. Worst case use photobucket.com as a host for the pic and just copy the link provided from there.

Hey lilsav, welcome aboard!

Bestbuds is correct, the only way to be sure when to harvest is to scope the trichomes, harvesting when they reach the range of color you want (clear, cloudy, amber).

.

A holistic approach is to watch the plant for clues that it is ready to harvest, then scope it. The Scope rules all. Some signs to look for: fan leaves yellowing and falling off; calyxes swelling; colas swelling like they are going to burst; the buds look sandy because of the old trichomes.

See how these Super Strawberry Diesel colas are swelled like they're about to burst. The buds seem to be swelling off the colas. The leaves aren't yellow because I use a little extra nitrogen in early flower to keep my fan leaves longer. You get to know your strains and what to look for. Pistils can turn dark and fall off while the trichs are still clear, then grow back in white when the trichs are cloudy - the only way to be sure is to scope the trichs.

"should i change the light schedule for last two weeks"

No.

12/12 is fine all the way through flower. I have a continuous grow, one young plant in when one ripens always a full garden, and use 12/12 throughout.

Some advanced growers will "dial in" their strains and only need 6 hours of light (Subcool) and others will push the light to 20 hours to max out production. For folks like us - (12/12)/365.

How much is an ounce?

Most growers will call an ounce after a 4 week cure, where the bud looses 85% of it's weight in water. Dealers or comercial growers call an ounce once the bud is clipped and trimmed with over 6X the weight of properly cured bud. The quicker from plant to customer the more money / the longer from plant to vaporizer the smoother the vapor.

The two Super Strawberry Diesel in the pic above yielded almost 2 liters (8 cups) of 4 week cured bud, I never bothered weighing but I've found cured bud weight ranges from 40g - 110g per liter. If I were a commercial grower each of those cola tops are over an ounce and their are about 3 dozen per plant.

Now I would count that as 3 to 4 ounces per plant, while some lunatic on YouTube would swear he has a 6" plant that yielded 3 pounds of bud.

First you have to be sure that the person who told you a 16 ounces is talking the same ounce you are. How big are the plants, how big are the pots they're in, what kind of light do you have, reflection, etc ...
