Something I think all cfl grower should read.

I thought I should share some of this info with other cfl growers. First off cfls are great for growing if used properly and the light is utilized, well this leads to reflector use, lets say you made your own reflector we know how hard it is to buy a reflector and get it to work the way we need it to, but lets see how efficient that home made reflector works, well we all know or should know that cfls really only work well at 1 or 2 inches away right? Ok, same with our reflectors if our reflectors are two inches away from our cfls is it really helping? Not as much as it should. Think about it the light has to travel two inches to the reflector two inches back to the light and then two more inches to the plant that a total of Six inches!! How well does a cfl work at six inches away? Not very well. I saw a test done that cfls have more light intensity and useable plant light then HIDS watt for watt just because they can be so close were hids have to be so far away they lose 1/3 to 1/2 of there lumens. So lets utilize this lighting we are using and keep out reflectors tight and snug to your cfls! I hope this helps someone it sure did make a difference for me!! Thanks for taking the time to read this I feel there is som valuable information here.

Yea sure is but I think new growers might not think like you an I, maybe even some experienced growers don't think like this.

I use CFLs with homemade reflectors in my grow. Using 3-4 inch for light distance from SCROG canopy.
SCROG is the best way to use CFLs......works for me..:weed:
Takes some extra time and results are decent.

Very nicce why so far away tho? They good great.
The larger CFLs throw out more heat than those little ones many people use..
I use the back of my hand to measure heat. This gives me the light height for my grow. If it's to hot for me, it's to hot for my girls.:weed:
