I did it once on a manifold and within a couple or few days you will know if it's going to survive. I used gorilla tape and left it on until harvest. The tape did not slow down growth. The plant basically tore the tape as it grew. The pictures attached are not great quality but you should be able to see the split. This is on harvest day after removing the tape
