Soulbad's First Grow / Strain: Ice

What watt and color are the CFLs you are adding?
Plus, I found that germinating in a rapid rooter cube worked well. I just dug that into the soil, and then pierced a little hole into the cube and put the seed in there. Only 1/4" down. How far are you burying your seeds for germination? They should germ fine if you put them right under the surface and just make sure the surface stays moist. Under lights the top 1/4 inch will dry out real fast so you gotta be keeping it moist. The peat cube holds moisture a little better. Give em a try.

I got the Ice seeds from a good friend of mine, who had actually purchased them months before :-\. So honestly I'm happy that I even got one out of it.

I'm already using http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=50100 with 2 warm/ 2 cool. I'm going to add a 27W CFL 5500K.

Alright, unfortunately I have to head out off to work for a few hours... I just propped up my CFL (kinda ghetto but temporary). Any extra light is good light...so I guess it's cool. Posted pic below.

I got a similar T5 fixture. I'm gonna get extra bulbs instead of half & half like what you have. I got the same going. Instead of 2 of each, i'm going to do 3 to 1 of either 6500k during veg and then swap 3 to 1 of warm when flowering. In addition to extra CFLs. Some people do ALL cool and ALL warm during each stage but i'm thinking a little of the other spectrum would help the plant. Definitely majority spectrum for me though.

As for seeds, I hear keeping them airtight in the freezer will keep them longterm.

I got 3 Ice going right now, thats what led me here btw :-P

So today a good friend of mine found out he wasnt going to be able to keep his small closet grow going anymore. So, this afternoon I picked up 4 very unhealthy 28 day old plants a very nice 400w HPS lamp/reflector! Put them all in my closet, watered them a bit. In the morning I'm pretty sure I am going to transfer the 4 I just got into 3 gallon grow bags.

Out of the 2 new plants I just got, the 2 bigger unhealthy looking ones are Ice. The 2 taller and thin, yellowish green ones are bag seed. Daylight starts pretty soon, and i'm most likely going to transplant all 4 of the plants into 3 Gal groaw bags, i'm pretty sure these 1 gallon pots are restricting growth.

Definitely, I transplanted all of them last night, excluding one, because I over estimated the ammount of 3 gallon bags I was going to be able to use under one 2' x 4 Flouro setup, I can really only fit 6 comfortably...so I left out the least healthy for now. I ALSO topped the 2 bigger plants I got from my friend.

Gonna post pics this afternoon. I put the 3 of the 4 plants I got from my friend from 1 gallon pots to 3 gallon bags...they were very root bound and it wasnt an eay xplant but they seem to be responding very well! I also put my larget plant into a 3 gallon bag. I transplanted my 2 smaller plants into the 2 1 gallon pots, and they also look great. My one very small seedling was showing no signs of growth so I tossed it, had been the same little stem for about 10 days with no leaf growth.

Here are the pics I promised from yesterday...The 3 I got from my friend that I transplanted are the lighter colered, they are roughly 4 weeks old and are looking much healthier then when I got them a few days ago.

My other darker 3 plants that I started from scratch are doing well also. The larget is 22 days from planting, and the 2 smaller are 15 days old.

I'm giving all of my plants my grow formula which is BioHeaven and BioGrow but half the amount of instructed use...I've been a bit concerned about nute burn lately..

GO EAGLES!

I'm concerned about how thin some of my stems are. I suppose it is normal for their ages. I assume stem strength is realted to root strength in some way, and I feel I've been watering my plants to often (as much as every other day). So I am going to try and back off on the watering a bit, and hopefully prevent some rootrot or anything.

Any tips or posts appreciated :D

I added a small rotating space heater to my room. It is now sitting comfortably between 77 and 80. Before it would sit around 69 in daytime and slump as low as 60 at night. I am hoping this will help fix my over watering problem and maybe encourage faster growth with better temps.

I also elevated 3 of my plants just to get them a little closer to the floros.

The book I've been reading has convinced me to change my lighting schedule to 24/0 instead of 18/6, I removed the timer last night. Today and tomorow I am going to work on building an adjustable height surface/table for my flowering closet. As soon as I set that table up I plan on putting all of my plants into the HPS closet under 24 hour light until it is time to clone to speed things up :D.

I took a few pics... The first 3 are pics of the plants that I topped. The topped areas seem to be responding and growing well, hopefully you can kind of make it out in the pics. The next 7 pics are a few random pictures taken a few minutes ago of my plants.

So I borrowed a much better camera then the one on my phone. For the next few days I'll be taking much higher quality pics and posting them.

Out of this set, the first few pictures show CLEARLY the result of topping after only a few days. The rest of the pictures are various close ups and pics of the plants.

I gave all the plants a good watering today, it's been about 2 and a half or 3 days over all.

They all seem very happy, and the ones that I topped are looking GREAT! It's been 4-5 days since topping.

I've included pics of all the plants and a few close ups of the tops. The light schedule is still 24/0. I think only using 1/2 the nute instructions is making a big difference.

A lot of pics lately; I am trying to take advantage of my time borrowing this nicer camera :D, hope you guys enjoy them.

Cool man, I was hoping to get advice by doing this...but i'm even happier to hear that it's helping people. Yah my setup will be a bit more organized soon; i just dont like the fact that like 4 of the plants are different ages lol, so I have different strange things under them to get them closer to the light (like dvd boxes, upsidedown rubbermades, etc). Once I put all of these into flowering and take 10-12 clones from 1, it's on :D

Man i'm stoned. But it was terrible weed :-\, can't wait to get a harvest! I'm off to work >.<, i'll update when i get home tonight.

So I gave them a good watering earlier this evening. My humidity is pretty low, and my soil dries up pretty quick (2-3 days). My toppings seem to be doing great. No signs of preflowers yet, here are some pics. :leaf:

I hung up a wet towel in my room and also have a bucket of warm water. Put those in about an hour ago and my closet has gone from 72F and 20% humidity to 79F and 45% humidity.

Nothing very special going on. They all seem to be growing very healthy and starting to accelerate a bit. Still on 24/0 lights and no signs of preflowers. Here are some pics, might take clones soon (within a week or two) .'

Btw, back to using my camera phone...no more cool pics :-(
