Sour 60 Autoflower under Hydro Grow 21X-PRO

I've been a lurker for a while watching what some of you can do with LED's, so I decided to give it a go. A friend of mine had some Sour60 seeds of a few different phenotypes, so I asked for one out of the bag labeled "Strong".

I planted the seed in an auto-water pot that you can buy online for about $25, and then waited until it sprouted. It took several days, but finally I had a set of little leaves. I put the pot onto a corner shelf in my office, and then hung a 21X-PRO LED Grow Light from Hydro Grow over the plant. It's actually really cute once all put together, and makes a nice medical decoration for the house (my wife and I are patients).

The pictures below are of the plant around day 7-10 after sprout (don't recall exactly how long as I didn't originally think to document this grow). Enjoy!

So up until now we've just been feeding the plant with the small nutrient packs that came with the auto-water pot, as it uses primarily coco and I figured why not? But today I decided to step it up a notch, so I poured in a little Advanced Nutrients Voodoo Juice and Sweet into the reservoir to help promote more root growth. Once I need to add water again I'm going to give the plant some Iguana Bloom, which is the best organic nute I've ever used. I also did a bit of pruning to the lower limbs as I don't like suckers... Also, little pistils have begun popping up all over the plant. These pictures are exactly 12 days after I took the first set, which puts us around Day 19-22.

For all intents and purposes this will serve as Day 28
. Progress has come along quite nicely since last week's update, with little flowers popping up all over the plant and nice little colas beginning to form. I just got out my measuring tape, and from the base of the light to the lowermost bud (keep in mind I trimmed the bottom) is 13". In diameter, this little girl measures about 7" from one side to the next, keeping herself right inside the core footprint of the 21X-PRO.


In total there are 13 different "Colas" or branches where buds are forming. It appears as though there will be about 21 "buds" once the flowers have finished joining together, as they always do post-stacking. The head cola is currently 5" in length, and the top is showing a bit of burn from growing into the light at times. Nothing to cause worry though... The light itself is presently positioned about 1-2" from the top of the head cola, where it has been for the most part since my update last week.

She drank 2 complete reservoirs of water this week, one of which was plain water and the other with a dilute mix of Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Bloom, Voodoo Juice, and Bud Candy. The light has been on 24/7 since day 1, and draws 28W as tested with my kill-a-watt. Room temp remains a steady 70-76 degrees Fahrenheit depending on what time of day it is. Not ideal, but it works (then again nothing is ideal in this grow lol!). I'm still very impressed so far by what has been accomplished with so little effort. During the past week this little Sour 60 drank another 2 reservoirs of water (a little over a liter each), one with nutes and the other without. It seems she is about finished with her vertical stretch, as she has only grown an inch or two in the past week. She's managed to start bulking up quite nicely and is already showing decent THC content. From my count we're a little over 3 weeks away from harvest and things look promising. Enjoy the photos

I have a bit different setup, but run HGL X-PRO series because I really like the color and footprint.

I'm seeing longer to harvest in the picture than you, 35 + 3 weeks gives 56 days, seems fast. But I am further away so it is harder for me to get a really good closeup look.

And I am enjoying the photo's, thank you.

Yeah it's around Day 35 so we have about 3-3.5 weeks to go according to the 60 days listed by MDanzig. Sour 60 is supposed to finish about 60 days after sprouting I believe. Like you I also enjoy the color of this light, but I also have the X-PRO (3W) version. They don't make a 1W version of the 21X-PRO. The footprint is perfect for a single little plant like this.

By the way, I went ahead and added some videos of the grow to give you all a bit more in-depth look.

Hey B, nice write-up. Cool that you can journal their least-expensive light and get a discount on their larger ones. :blsmoke:

Footprint of the light on their site shows about a 12" circle at 12" from the ground. Would you say that's about accurate, larger, or smaller than projected? Thanks.

From their chart and your pics, looks like it just about lights up the single center cola well enough, and then drops off of the lower/side branches...

I think this is the point at which you decide to reload the lost posts, and then provide a final dry weight. ;)

Aren't the red 21x's counterfeit? That's what I read at least. Apparently there are some copy cats claiming their selling HydroGrowLED lights but in fact are imposers. I also noticed that all of the video's were taken down every where like over night.
