Hey guys just looking for other AZ outdoor growers for tricks, tips and strains. How do u deal with monsoon and winds? Also what strains can handle the brutal weather? Should i just get a greenhouse? Any and all responses are greatly appreciated

Good luck

So brutal in AZ, I'd say try an auto 1st., Something that's done by like June

115+ degrees can be brutal for plants.

I've tried shade cloth for vegetables, still was ruff

I never even thought of auto. I know some of the commercial grows have permanent shade screen. I worked on farms in Oregon and was hoping to pull off some good outdoor here. Should b a little cooler in Cochise than Tuscon or Phoenix for sure. Fully off grid here with a couple spider farmers going and some clones. Thanks for info. Looking for like minded growers in the area. Thanks Brad

It's all about keeping the roots cool. Planting in the ground in good soil and mulching. Getting plants established in the ground as early as possible. Many summer crops can be grown in Southern AZ as long as water is available and the plants are well established before June heat sets in. As far as whether a monsoon will wreck things? A monsoon can also tear up a greenhouse, but every year is different. Some years they don't happen, so it's more of a roll of the dice.

Yea the whole monsoon thing scares me. This is our first summer in AZ. I want a greenhouse bad but I know it would have to be fort Knox. I have buddy who has a outdoor setup going for a couple years and maybe just help him. What strains do u grow? I have godbud,bc cheese, kingjack,Girl Scout, masterkush. Would love to grow some tree's outside.

I grew Mexican landrace sativas for 10 years in the Central Valley of CA, most summers it was 100+ for 6 weeks straight. You've gotten some good advice-plant heat tolerant strains and MULCH thick and water DEEP. I'd put an 8 inch thick layer of straw at least 6 ft diameter around the plant, little further if you can. Look for sativas from hot regions, avoid highland sativas.

What kind of soil do u use. Inside I have been using bag 420 with EWC. Not sure what to use outside?
I'm growing in the ground, this year. Sandy loam soil. I do a lot of vegetable growing as well, so I get the soil tested yearly and amend it organic according to that. Outside if using a container, then use the biggest you possibly can.
