Space heater recommendation

Hello,
Need a space heater for a small tent 4x2x5’h. Growing with LED for the first time and temps are ambient 58-65. Trying to get to ~80s during lights on, as efficiently as possible on space & wattage. Curious if anyone else is heating a similar space and what you’re using? I’m seeing them 500w-1500w which seems like a lot of juice. If you are running them, are you going 24 hours a day to keep up with exhaust?

Im using one of these in 4x4.
Very simple and waterproof. I like it.
Got my tent from 20c/68f to 26c/79f.
Running 24/7.
This can also be solution for some high humidity issues. Mine got down about 10%.

I'm using a 80 w tube heater I have it close to the pots
Was having problems before I got it 14 degrees an all fs
When they were in the small pots they loved the wee heat mat I had and I defo was suprized at the root ball

Hps doesn’t help with lights off. Check out a vpd chart, you can raise your temp(better option) or lower your humidity.

I’ve never had problems with growth growing with HPS with lights off temps as low as 50F. From what I understand about LED growing, not to discount vapor pressure, but it doesn’t matter if I’m in an optimal VPD range if it’s 60 degrees in the tent lights on or off? I would want to get my temps to the low 80s and adjust humidity as necessary? I don’t understand the science behind it or difference but it seems everyone growing LED says temps have to be right about 80 for growth anywhere close to normal.

There's no really efficient electric heater. They are all at 100 %. So 1000 W of electric power gets turned into 1000 W of heat power. And 1000 W is not much if you heat a room.
If you compare that to e.g. a gas furnace they are quiet low powered. Those have 3-5 kW power (or more). Fuel is also 5 times cheaper than electricity.

Only problem there is fire hazard and moisture from the exhaust.

I’d hate to abandon my first LED run before I even get started but I’m leaning that way if I can’t come up with something. Seeds just germinated I figure I have a few weeks to find a solution.
See post #2. What is your exhaust setup? Humidity in the room and tent? Stage of growth? People need info to give good suggestions.

Tent is brand new it’s been live for 3 weeks with just lettuce/herb seedlings in there just to simulate plant matter/soil/moisture before putting in any cannabis plants, although they are now germinated but yet to break soil. Tents in my cellar, ambient temps are ~58-64 inside and out, rh about the same range inside and out. Stone cellar with cement rat slab. Right now I’m not exhausting mechanically I have ports open at the top and I’m using my inline fan to intake warm air off the main stack of my steam boiler into a lower port on the tent, on the lowest setting. Since that expirement I’m +5F off room temps inside my tent. All the equipment is vivosun w/ their controller I know it’s not top shelf but it seems to work & ultimately it’s going to be a mother/clone tent. I guess if there’s no efficient way to raise the temp to sustain growth with LED I switch back to HPS during winter months? Am I correct in understanding that LED requires temps in the 80s to be effective? Is that true for both veg & flower?

Low to mid 80's is best with LED, growth will be slower with low temps. HID raises leaf temp above air temp with IR, LED doesn't.

If a fan is blowing in one port, it's exhausting out all other openings. It seems strange that temps aren't higher with the fan on low, I'd try closing all but 1 port on top and also try exhausting out the bottom rather than the top. What LED is it?

The efficiency advantage of LED tends to disappear if you have to run a heater. Since your experienced with HPS, you are probably better off with that during the winter, but I'd want a taller tent, even with LED.

I have same issue as you OP. I use an oil filled radiator I got on Amazon for anout $89 plugged into a temp controller. It's a 750 and 1000 watt unit. Use the 750 setting. Remember, the heater is not running constantly. It cycles on and off as needed.

Used to use a space heater, but those things make me nervous. Radiator makes me feel better/safer.

I just don’t have the temp or any appliance creating heat. Winter time, I’m 3-4 degrees above the ambient temp outside the tent. Think it is what it is, drawing radiant heat off the boiler isn’t doing enough. If this oil space heater isn’t an efficient option I’ll just run a 250hps I’ve got in a box somewhere.Correct on wanting a taller tent. I’d like a wider one too. Fits the space for now, it’s to start my vegetable garden. Will be a mother tent eventually. LED is a 200w vivo aerowing(?) Was hoping to dip my toe in with LED’s before deciding how I want to build out the rest.

How long have you been using this oil filled radiator? Any ballpark idea of what it cost’s to run in the amount of time it is cycled on? How many degrees are you raising temp compared to ambient outside the tent?

Ambient lung room temp I'd say about 60-63. I am in a 5 x 5 tent so it's small space to heat. Cost? 750 watts multiplied by current kilowatt hour would put me close $97 if ran 24/7. Thankfully it does not, maybe 50% of the time it is running while lights are on, and less lights off. I say it probably costs me closer to $20-30 / month.
