Well, when we first got the 1000w hung we were using one of those cheap "wing" hoods. The temp shot up around 110!!! So, we went and bought a Sun System air cooled hood with a 6" fan for intake/outtake and a glass shield. On one side of the hood you hook up duct that runs out of the room to fresh air, on the other side you hook up duct>run that to the intake side of your fan>then on the other side of the fan (exhaust) you hook up more duct then run that outside of your room. All this does is pull air from outside, through the hood over the light, then blows it outside of the room. Since the hook has a piece of glass, all the heat from the light stays in the hood and gets sucked out. With the air cooled hood you can put your hand on the glass. For high wattage HPS and MD in a small area an air cooled hood is a must. Its the only way you can do it...the ONLY WAY. Invest the money and get a good air cooled hood and good fan and duct work.
Outside<duct>oneside of hood===other side of hood>duct>intake fan===other side of fan (exhaust)>duct>outside...Hope that kinda makes sense.
