I posted this in the wrong section last night and deleted it. A quick intro, I used to grow outside with moderate success 20+ years ago (mainly skunk). I am looking to get back into growing, but now indoors. This was my original plan, with some reading here I am not sure it is the right way to go. I have a 3'x3'x6' mylar tent in a safe/climate controlled area, got my soil/feeding/water/odor elimination (going back to skunk) figured out...but lighting has confused me. I have 3-23 watt 1500 lumen 6500k, 1-23 watt 1500 lumen 2700k and a 105 watt 7000 lumen 5000k I was going to grow with. (13,000 lumens total) The 4 smaller bulbs are in those clip on fixtures with the reflective dish on the back that will clip on my tent frame work and just raise as the plants (4 hopefully, small ones) grow. The big CFL will hang above and in the center and raise as needed. I was planning when I flowered and went 12/12 to switch to 3-23 watt 2700k, 1-23 6500k and the big 5000k still. Basically I only bought 7 bulbs 3/6000k-3/2700k and the big 5000k thinking that would work. I don't have enough low spectrum do I ? Or can this possibly work ? Or anything thing else I am fucking up, feel free to let me know.

I belive when your begin flowering your going to balance out your spectrum of lights. I have 5 26W 2700k cfl, 1 48W 5500k CFL and 1 26w 6500K CFL. I first began to flower with all 6 2700k and the results were looking not to good. The buds were developing slow and not dense. Last week I replaced 2 cfl's with the 48w 5500k and a 26W 6500k and Man have they began to blow up!!!! I've noticed a massive increase in bud size and crystalization. My Buds are looking sugar coated & dense ad I'm barely in week 8. I still have like 5 weeks to go so I'll keep you updated but go with mixed spectrum. Go heave on blue lighting for veg and high red lighting with some blue mixed in while flowering. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply ST. Yea I just could not figure out the 'set in stone' spectrum that I have seen here and other places with CFL's. I was doing my best to replicate (under my own control finally) the kinda light conditions I used to go by with the seasons. Of course a box in the basement kicks that's ass, and wanted to make the best of it. I will experiment and hopefully have sticky buds I can't shake off my fingers sooner than later.

This is interesting. On my new grow I was going to try doing 125w 2700k and then 4 30w 6500k on the side to flower. Good idea?
I am no expert (or I would not be askin' questions) But it is my impression you want more lower spectrum for flowering than in veg. 6500K should make them grow and when you switch to 12/12 the 2700K is more like the weaker sun in the fall making them flower. I do believe mixed spectrum is better than straight 6500 grow-2700 bud, but I think a guy should mix high on grow and mix low on veg. And by all means anyone with more experience feel free to slap me down on that, I am speaking from "book knowledge" here, no personal experience yet.
yes it is, the 6500k will keep the stretching down and boost the growth.

Interesting topic on mixing spectrums a little bit.
One time, due to money and some space issues, I ran the plants through a gradient of spectrums for flowering, and rotated them daily. The final product was certainly no worse than others.
Lotsa old timers say to they 75/25 low K, to high K during flowering.

All's I know is my buds are blowing up and Im a happy camper! Yes the light blue lights will keep it from streching any furthuer but they are definetly going to help pack up dose buds and get them dense and crystly. Ever since I added the blue lights to the mix i noticed more trichsome prductions and shes even smelling up my place and its 1 plant!!! Dude i totaly belive in mixed spectrum growth with CFL's. I dont know how it works with T5's but when i get my T5's i will experiment 1 grow flowering all with 3000k @ 10,1000 lumes with about 4 42W CFL @ 2700k around the bottom to promote bottom growth.
Even better, I know a guy who uses an 8 light T5 6 -6500 K & 2 3000 K for flowering.

Sure, I saw pictures of them, they were spectacular. He went with the almost all blue to keep the height down. The red is just needed to stimulate blooming.Really? Has he mentioned how his buds are like and if he has good yields from it?

whats up guys... i am building my flowering side of grow box.. my space is 4'x2'x60"high. i have 2 4' flourec.tubes. i was going to use 2 40watt warm white 2700k and 10 26 watt cfl's surrounding the plants. or should i use 1 40watt 4' cool white 4100k and 1 40watt 4' warm white 2700k? how should i set that up for flowering?
