spider mites dead?

so im coming off a little spider might attack. ive been spraying with some 'captain jack's deadbug'. i see no webs being spun anymore. but when I look under the leaves that show signs of mites(yellow spots)I can still see the tiny white dots im pretty sure are the mites. is it possible they are just dead mite corpes? or if they die would they fall off? I don't have a scope, but I asked for one for xmas... cmon santa, hook it up!

sounds like you could be seeing some eggs, if you didnt completely drench the tops and bottoms of the leaves, stems, whole plant, etc, then you will probably see them come back. try using something that is a for sure kill, like avid + tetrasan or forbid 4f

hold a fan leaf over a clean white piece of paper - tap firmly the top of the leaf several times - look at the paper closely - if any of the tiny spot start moving , you still got mites - GL

you can get a 30x jewelers loupe for under 5 bucks. i have seen them on ebay for about 2.50 and free shipping.

to defeat the mites, you must spray with their reproductive cycle, this is the information none of the insecticide manufacturers volunteer so they can sell more spray, spray 3 times over a period of 10 days, day 1 day 4 day 10. peace.

as for the d-bag recommeding to spray avid, go to hell, go straight to hell, do not collect $200

there very hard to get rid of. you need to spray every time you can keep them in check. try 1 teaspoon olive oil per gallon water bug preventer .

i personally dont use it but many people do, i would use forbid in veg only, and things like mighty wash and dishsoap during veg. so go fuck yourself i was just offering other options.

No offense at all but I got a good laugh when I read the title of your post... Spider mites will make you want to pull your hair out! I thought I had them beat several times only to find them coming back stronger in a week or so. Haven't seen them in a month but I know they are planning their next attack!

What finally "worked" was azamax foliar, spinosad foliar, and strong habanero solution (I think there is a sticky on it) alternate with each every 3-4 days. Also, do a neem soil drench with 3-5ml per gallon a couple times. This should do it unless you have "supermites" then you are looking at the thermo-nuclear options mentioned above (only use them in veg).

It is key to keep a clean grow area, if you can remove the plants and spray the floors, walls, and crevices with bleach solution you will have even better luck.

Are you in flower? if so how far? I am 4 weeks in and getting nervous as well... I will no longer use azamax or spinosad at this point.
I will continue the neem soil drenches for another 2 weeks or so and hope that holds them off.

If they come back I am going to go get some Mighty Wash. It is safe to use in flower except that you want to avoid getting your buds wet for mold reasons. It is a contact killer so would need to be used every 3-4 days. It is not cheap, I think $35/gallon, and not a concentrate, it comes ready to use so it will get used up quick but is the best option I have read about for late in flower.

Lady bugs will work as well but if you have an open hood about 50% of them will immediately commit suicide in the light bulb when you release them. Predator mites are another option as well.

im 2 days into flower. just started it. mighty wash sounds good. ill see if my store has any tomorrow.

seeing dead mites/aphids is actually a good diagnostic method. Can you post some pics? the more magnified the better! Also how long has this problem been going on? Any way you can CO2 bomb it?

Well if it is spider mites two things that will help are increasing humidity and making sure you don't let your plants dry out too much. Drought stress and low hum are really bad for spider mites. I hope this is of some use to you man, no one likes pests, especially spider mites!

so I picked up a loupe when I went to get more bug murder spray. besides giving me a headache trying to look through the thing, I did see some dead ass mites. 2 little black dots on their backs. no movement, so unless they were sleeping... the little white dots I have been seeing, that I assumed were the mites, are not. so those must be the eggs? I got a new type of spray, 'SNS 217' that claims to kill the eggs as well as the mites. stuff has a strong smell. but I didn't realize the life cycle where u want to hit it every couple days. I had been spraying for like 3-4 days in a row and thought I was good. now I will hit them for like 3 days in a row...wait 3 days, hit again...wait 3 days hit again. thanks everyone for teaching noob. evey time a spider mite dies, an angel smiles.

on a side note: does anyone else have trouble typing on this site? it seems like only half my letters register, and I have to go back and retype

I can't speak on alot of these remedies because I haven't tried them but in my experience dealing with mites, persistence is what kills them. I've kept them at bay for almost a year now and the only thing I've ever used is a homemade spray made from canola oil, a drop of dish soap, and a few boiled down hot peppers (The recipe is on this site I believe). If I see signs at all on any of my plants I start spraying every plant in my veg room every 3 - 4 days for a couple of weeks. Sounds OCD but it's worked very well for me and I have yet to see a mite on any of my flowering plants.

ya I saw that hot pepper recipe on here, once I start getting flowers I will try that. figure I can hit em hard with store bought sprays till i get the buds. hopefully grocery stores still have the habanero this time of year

I had aphids, and spidermites this summer, and nothing was working, so
I tried this stuff called nuke em, it worked on the first app.
but the aphids came right back. No more spidermites though.
says its safe in flowering. Just spray in low light, or no light cause
it'll turn your pistils brown real fast otherwise. I missed that on the
directions the first time I used it.
