One of my buddys gave me a few Great White Shark strains and I put them in my garden because they're about the same age as my babies (a little smaller) Now he tells me his garden has Spider Mites! There's small frekled yellow dotes on the leaves of the Sharks and a few on my White Widows, too. What do I do about this? Also another plant was showing wrinkled messed up leaves. people said they look fine. I want more advice though, because it far from looks fine to me. heres pictures of my worst plants and thier problems.

Those white spots look like where the spider mite has been attached feeding. If I were you I would get neem oil now follow the directions on the bottle but add a couple drops of dawn dish soap to it. It is a natural product and you can use right up to harvest. You need to spray under the leaf because that is where they feed. Here is the plan to follow. First day spray with neem, second day spray with neem, Third day pure water, fourth day nothing, repeat untill you no longer see spider mites. Works everytime for me. You have to continur this regemin for at least two weeks to get any eggs that hatch. Then just keep a good eye on them and any sign of return start again. Them buggers are hard to get rid of but you can keep them in check so they don't ruin your crop.

I got Organticide. The lady at the hydro store said it works like Neem Oil. I just now got back from there. What do you think? should I say screw it and go to anouther place that has the Neem Oil? Or should I try the Organticide? I can't see any Spider Mites. All I see is eggs.

I plan on trying this next time life calls for it . . . borrowed from some other RIUpper/Thanks

Take a misting water bottle that has the trigger on it.
  • Cover just the bottom of the bottle with dish soap (I use the orange anti-bacterial kind)
  • Fill 3/4 with just tap water
  • fill remaining 1/4 with white vinegar
  • shake gently, not too much though or you will have lots of bubbles, lol
  • spray all over your plants, under the leaves and the top of the soil unitl a light coating is on there (don't get it sopping wet)
  • leave on at least a few hours or over night
  • spray off all the plant ( I do this with clean water in the spray bottle)
  • bugs gone, shiny leaves.
Don't forget to repeat whatever you do in 2-3 weeks, for eggs.

What sort of stuff is in the Organticide? if its chemical free & organic I would tend to say give it a try. Then again MrFishey's recipe sounds like a good solution. Just be carefull when misting that you don't get your lamp - MH and HPS have been known to explode when hit with cold liquids.
Good Luck !

Are you sure you use that much vinegar? I just burnt the heck out of two plants and I only left it on there for an hour before spraying with water. I may have sprayed too much but its hard not to when your trying to get every surface.

Be careful with that organicide, or really anything oily. Make sure they're dry before you put them back under the lights, or lift your lights until they dry, you can cause some ugly burn.

Hey, i am on my first grow, and i had those damn things on my plant for a bit. I went to Wally world (of all places) and got some stuff called Spectracide. I used it as directed three times about 3 days apart each use, and haven't seen them since. Apparently it worked. :)

Also, you can cover your plants with black bags, pulling it over the pots to be sealed off. Then put a metal container in there with some hot water and then drop in some dry ice which will quickly turn into CO2 vapor, filling the black bag and suffocating all those breathing pests in there while also giving your plant a nice big breath of air it likes. This won't kill the eggs tho, you'll have to try the water with added dish soap, white vinegar or even canola or other horticultural oils will help. The horticultural oils help smother the eggs of those little bastards :)

Can you cite a preferred online reference to this? I like the idea & would like to read a bit more on it.
Thanks

This one, I like the idea & it sounds solid - just wondering if you might have a handy reference.
Thanks again.
