Spinning your plants!!!

Spining plants? Just a concept I have wanted to try...has anyone seen or heard of this being done? I'm thinking if light movers work so well then why not have a spinning plant vertically with the light to the side and at an angle.....and honestly you could do multiple plants around a single reflector-less hps or fluorescent light source....ok guys and girls put on your thinking caps and let me know what you think....and if this has been tried please let me know!!!! I'd love to know how it worked

No...and I have seen this yes many times...that is horizontal....I want vertical!!
You would think that horizontal would make a plant very confused by the rapid shift in gravity...where as the roots would be trying to grow down....vertically you would limit this and also balances out the direction of the earths gravitational pull....have you ever seen a time lapse of seedlings grown in doors? They spin all in the same direction at the same time!

This has been discussed before...I think about costs constantly and dont think incorporating any spinning plants or lights would be worth it. More watts is where its at, put your money into that.

Also I should mention that this is a cylinder with light on the inside.....I'm thinking you can increase plants by x4 if the light was on the outside with 4 cylinders! I never like the light position on the horizontal spinner it never changes angles! It would be better offset or two spaced from center...

I agree more watts are always better...but indoors light penetration is where it's at!!! No matter how many big lights your using if you can get them to change the angles it will greatly increase your yield!! I won't even get in to the gravitational changes in a spinning object but let's just say I want to see a test even if I have to do it myself!

It wouldn't be that hard to do if you know mechanics/electrical, probably not much $$ either. Some turntables, or lazy susans, some type of drive belt , a motor, possibly some limit switches. I'd set it up to go 360 in on direction, stop then reverse back 360, repeat, with some limit switches. I'd do that because i run DWC and wouldn't want my air lines getting wrapped up.

HA! It'd be unique if you could spin a plant fast enough to cause it to fan out for better light distribution. I wonder, if like a centrifuge, it would force more nutes/foods/etc. out to the buds..probably not..just thinking high..lol.

Yes! This is what I'm thinking and believe it would at least be worth a try.

I used to run DWC outdoors for veggies...35k gal 8k+ plants! I came up with an idea where this would work! If you position your intake and direct your bubblers you can make a swirl In a round container preferably. Now originally the plants were meant to stay stationary allowing the water below to make a swirling currents passing by the roots. But with this vertical idea, assuming your using rafts, I'd allow the rafts to spin with the water! The power of water being moved even by a weak water source is amazing!! You could also stack these vertically!
