Splitting stems and ice watering before harvest

I am in my final weeks and as I am sure you know I am anxious since this is my first harvest in 10 years. I have come so far and cannot imagine ruining my crop. So, watching thousands of videos I have come across lots of different techniques when it comes to the last week or so of flower to stress the plant out suggesting it will increase trichome productions and maybe even terpenes and bud size. Splitting stems at the base of the plant, then pushing a pencil through the split to then zip tie the stem, then also using ice water to water the plants the last two waterings. Or is there any other tips, besides the infamous 48 hours of darkness? Thanks In advance.
Unfortunately shit like this is still around floating about on the web long after it's been debunked by many, many growers as absolute BS. It's not the fault of new growers that stumble upon it while trying to find ways to boost their buds, but weed just like everything else in life offers very few short cuts. Abusing your plants to illicit a SAR or systemic response that will increase trichome production is counter productive. Just take care of them the way you have been doing all along, watch your temp and humidity, provide proper nutrition for the stage they're in and don't flush them for God's sake. You're not going to drastically improve the quality or yield of your buds in one week, you can however really screw up your plants in that time. Don't worry about everyone giving you shit, it's just common knowledge around here and if you had done a search about it on the forum you would see how many threads there have been on the same kind of topics. Ice water, nails in the stem, splitting the stem...all just really bad ideas for most all growers. Just finish out the grow normally and worry more about not harvesting early like most new growers and you'll be in good shape.

They're just riding your ass because nobody does that bro-science stuff any more. UV light could kick up resin production but it's mostly how they were grown and fed that determines what the final product will be like. And genetics of course. You can't make a hot babe by slapping lipstick on a pig tho a few might be fooled. :)

And the dark thing is basically a myth too. I crop in stages usually. Take the big, ripe top colas first then lower the lights and give the lower stuff 10 days or so to ripen up before taking the rest. So don't flush as that's also bro-science now. Just feed less the last few weeks but give some Mg, S and K to push the size and resin potential. Too much P is bad. A boost at the start of flower then much more K than P with lower N as well.

Times. They are a changing.

:peace:
Don't underestimate makeup, lol.

I'm on my first grow, my plants are 10 days old & I can already tell you right now... I would never intentionally torture one of them to get "extra" anything. When the plants time is up, i'll play it some soothing music, thank it, one quick slice & thats it.
