Sprout question

Once the first set of fans are developed, and can collect light, it uses all it's energy to build a strong root structure. Around a week later she'll start growing.

What is your seed doing in mud! I'd say that your growing medium is most likely having an impact. Seeds are so delicate that handling them isn't a good idea after popping. You can take a toothpick and clear out a little above the seed, so it can have some sense of light.

Still, it can take a few days, even in the best conditions.

I don't know. I think the shell is an important part of the seed. I could be wrong. Get yourself some potting soil (not Miracle Grow), make a 3/4" hole with a toothpick, drop it in there and leave it.
