How do you season a ti nail...???...is it like when you get a now iron skillet you heat it up and wipe it down with salt????

Limited understanding of chemistry has me guessing that you'd possibly end up inhaling titanium smoke. Not sure though, and no idea how one would go about seasoning it, i'm only accustomed to seasoning a grill for delicate fish although i just call it prepping

Seasoning the Ti is just a good idea cause it tastes like a bag of dicks if you don't. Most people i've talked to(myself included) just heated the nail/pad up one or two good times and then dabbed reclaim all over (without inhaling obviously) it to "season" it. Keeps you from dabbing off of fresh titanium.

well, when dude "seasoned" mine he simply heated it and dabbed some oil on it. let it blow away and called it "done".

so 1 hit of Ti will kill you? i'm guessing.

is "fresh" Ti more dangerous then "used" Ti?

Nope. Didn't season shit.

I rinsed it off though... ill go rinse it again and heat it I guess LOL...

I didn't taste anything funny though.

I'm pretty sure titanium isn't releasing toxic things when it's HEATED, then dabbed with an oil.....

Maybe as it's being heated i'm burning inital titanium speckles off, but I don't see how it could be that dangerous really.

Unless it was copper or something but it's Titanium! The first choice for engineers who want a light, STURDY material that does well in high heat situations. Like motorcycle exhausts, or engines on realllly high end bikes/cars

heres what i was told about seasoning and it makes sence if u ask me...when u get new titanium it has a light oil on it from when its machined,and from what im told,the ti itself lets off vapors when its bran new and heated......

this is how u know if ur ti is NOT seasond....shiny ti is no good!..heat it up,drop a dab on it,if it boils on the ti and takes a second to smoke then ur ti is NOT seasoned..it can even jump right off ur ti and burn u!!!! ive seen it happen to people..

this is how u know ur ti is seasond... heat it up,drop a dab on and it should smoke right away! no boil to burn,just burns instantly! the ti will even change color,its like a dull grey not shiny at all!

How to season...a lot of people have different ways in doing this, i myself use reclaim so i dont have to use my dank erl!

what i do is,i take my dabber with like a .1 of reclaim (u can use ur oil too) i rub it all over my ti pad or nail (just the top of the pad or head of the nail) and i hit it with my torch till the oil burn off and pad/nail turns red...i do that like 5 times untill i take a dab off new ti, yes i use about a half g to season new ti lol...i used a .8 of reclaim to season my ti pad when i got my curve!..i WILL NOT dab off shiny ti...

one more thing about the ti nails... before i season it i gently grab the nail with vice grips and torch the whole thing from the counter weight to the head,i do that a couple times then season it just incase anything below the head is letting out vapors,remember the WHOLE nail is titanium! lol....

I just smeared off all the oil on my dabber onto it,, then used a little fresh oil to rub on there

my other ti nail is like grey lol... my new ti nail is gettin there. don't worry

tastes fine now though I did heat it up a few times and rinse in hot water...

yah ive heard of people seasoning their ti by heating it till its red and droping it in cold water...never tryed that though,i like to see somthing burning on it before i dab off it!

btw water does NOTHING to ti so dont be afraid to get ur ti pad wet when ur cleaning ur curves!

i do get a good amount of recialim though.. i wish i had a 90degree bend to another 90 degree bend male on male adapter

so it could collect in the bottom of the adapter, rather than into my stemless.. i feel like i will be rinsing this a bit

gunna be buying a torch and setting up a little studio.. gunna be some time but i have my mind set to it sincei cant grow anymore and ive always wanted to blow glass!...found a place not to far from me that does a 65$ hands on class. teaches u the basics to lampworking and u get to make a little piece and brign it home!..im pumped!!! just need to keep saving $ for everything..selling some of my glass to make some $ to it'll be worth it in the long run! im ready to get burnt scraped and cut!
