I have one of those type scrubbers from foothill and it works good man . I even have one in my house I smoke cigs like there is no tommorow lol and you cant even smell anything . The thing I like most about them is you can refill them . Good luck man !

thanks for the reply i hope it works.it just seems like if theres no issues with heat it would be just easier to plug the thing in and hang it from something and let it go.

I've been having heat problems with my carbon scrubbers attached to my vents, and have since removed them. I'm now thinking of adapting my DIY carbon scrubbers to the stand-alone set-up. It's worth a try.

Your welcome bro , the way mine is set up is I have it on the floor beside where my fresh air comes in and the scrubber pulls it in and scrubbes that air also and it does help with my heat issues as it blows upwards towards my light , damn must be nice to keep the temps right lol . Peace bro !

Free standing carbon scrubbers are better suited for closed vent grows/sealed w c02.

If you are venting, you may want to mount the carbon scrubber to your outgoing vent. If you just use a freestanding scrubber in an open vent room, it will be less effective. There will likely be a substantial amount of untreated air exhausted out of your room.

I don't think he has an exhaust..

" meaning no ducting just cleaning the air in the room" , " and it not hot so i dont need to vent but am still worried about odor. "

That thing looks pretty nice, I hadn't seen one of those, might have to get one if my ionizer/ozone and febreze true air carbon filter fail to do the job in flower. which is likely god bud is stanky...

Since he isn't exhausting the air and some is obviosly going to go untreated, the air is going to permeate throughout the rest of the house.

I could see it working in an air tight setup with C02 like already mentioned, but I think people don't realize how much airmovement is actually going on inside their homes at all times, especially if you have a central air system of some sorts, or even just an old ass house that has leaky doors and windows.

You can't just close the closet/bedroom door and call it good if you are concerned about odor, that shit is going to find a way out and fast.

Old thread but interesting topic
I am considerng doing somthing like this. I grow in my garage and I am legal but I am very concerned about odor. I am currently using a grow tent with a large can filter inside the tent, however anytime I open the tent or if the fan turns off I would get odor leaking into the garage. The garage is airtight to the house but has minor air leakage to outside around the garage doors. I am thinking about using my filter in the tent still but have a free standing carbon scrubber in the garage to scrub any smelly air that got away from the tent. I think this should work with a large enough scrubber and fan, especially since I will be removing 90% of the odor through the scrubber in my tent. Has anyone done anything like this? If I'm not clear I could draw a picture.
Does anyone else use a freestanding scrubber?
