Start the lights?

I have a few seedlings that I just germinated/planted and now are poking through about 1/4" to 1" above the ground. However, the seed shell is still attached at the top. Do I start the lights now or should I wait until the first set of fake leaves come through? Thanks for any advice!

i put mine under the light before they even popped out of the dirt. you just dont wanna put it to close cause their fragile the first day or 2

The light doesn't do any good until you see green. And then, while they are small, light should be back further than usual.

Thanks for the help guys. On some of them the green was starting to break through from under the shell so I just went ahead and fired up the lights. I have the t5 floros at around 12" from the seedlings so I think I should be ok.

i myself used lights as soon as i transplant the seed to the pot .
i get a sprout at about 1-2 days.

so i think u should be fine.

that happened to mine..i was like "oh ill just let it sit in the dark until the seed completely hatches and then ill throw some light on it"

no dice

if that little seed is still stuck on top and its stopping those 2 little pedals from showing. put lights on it, 5 hours youll see it hatch, it needs light to get the strength it needs to open up all the way and crack that seed in hafl

Im new to growing i've just started mt first grow.

i was wondering from germination all my seeds cracked and produced a root i planted in soil but its been 24hrs and nothing has surfaced i have my lights on 18/6 how long until you see some activity? i think i might have messed up somewhere.

Any help would be much appreciated
