How do i solve this?

Little flys.

At first there were few. Now there's an armada ready to take over the world. I have to make em stop fast, Suggestions?

Im pretty sure they come in the mg soil because ive had this happen to me. Their called fungus knats and their annoying as hell. Ive tried peeled potatoes( cut in chunks and laid on top of soil), that seems to draw them in and kill them. But the best thing that worked for me was sand. I put sand on top of my soil and it basically smothers them. that andd pick your self up some of those sticky fly catchers....best of luck with those annoying little bastards...

The little flies are gnats and they are attracted to the back wash in the cans

i laid out a fruit fly catcher. it seems to work. sand is nice soln as beach is close by but wouldn't that hurt the plant?... peeled potatoes? next attempt.

IMO the easiest and most effective way to kill and prevent fungus gnats from breeding in your soil is to simply sprinkle a little bit of Diatomacous Earth on top of your soil.

It causes the little bastards to "bleed out" upon contact .


What is Diatomaceous Earth?
Diatomaceous earth is a remarkable, all-natural product made from tiny fossilized water plants. Diatomaceous Earth is a
naturally occurring siliceous sedimentary mineral compound from microscopic skeletal remains of unicellular algae-like plants called diatoms. These plants have been part of the earth's ecology since prehistoric times. It is believed that 30 million years ago the diatoms built up into deep, chalky deposits of diatomite. The diatoms are mined and ground up to render a powder that looks and feels like talcum powder to us. It is a mineral based pesticide. DE is approximately 3% magnesium, 33% silicon, 19% calcium, 5% sodium, 2% iron and many other trace minerals such as titanium, boron, manganese, copper and zirconium. Diatomaceous Earth is a natural (not calcined or flux calcined) compound. Diatomaceous Earth is a natural grade diatomite. However, the continual breathing of any dust should he absolutely avoided.

How does it work?
To insects DE is a lethal dust with microscopic razor sharp edges. These sharp edges cut through the insect's protective covering drying it out and killing them when they are either dusted with DE or if it applied as a wettable powder spray. If they ingest the DE it will shred their insides.

Ive used sand and its never hurt my plants. Its just a pain at watering time because you want to move the sand out of the way. google potatoes to get rid of fungus knats , im sure youll find info about it......

I've had fungus gnats from Miracle Grow. Neem Oil worked best for me. I got a quart of Neem concentrate for like $15 at Lowes. I would assume Home Depot or any other garden center would carry it. In my opinion it's one of the safest and easiest ways to deal with bugs and fungus.

they appear mre when there lots of moisture and or puddlng water:::try nt to overwater...use dish soap with water and it should wrk...then keep the plant soil dry as u can wit out kill ur babies ofcourse
