Starting a hydroponic grow room. Advice?

Ok, so I am getting a new house soon and I want to start a hydroponic grow room. I've done an extensive amount of research and comprised a list of equipment I will be using. The list is as follows:

- a 12 plant Bubbleponics hydroponic system
- a 400 watt metal halide conversion bulb
- a 400 watt high pressure sodium light fixture (bulb, ballast, reflector, socket assembly, lamp cord and wire hanging hooks)
- 1 tub of pH up
- 1 tub of pH down
- 2 oscillating fans (for air circulation)
- 2 twin window fans (one to blow in fresh air, the other to vent out "old air" and to carry out hot air so the plants don't ever heat)
- 1 humidifier

I've grown marijuana outdoors before, but mother nature did most of the work.

I was wondering if any experienced indoor growers could give me and advice or tips. Right now I am looking at spending almost $1200, but if possible I'd like some recommendations so I could bring the price down a bit.

Please, any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

First, welcome to RIU and congrats on the new house! :)

What size will the grow room be? Will you buying the bubbleponic system or building it yourself? You can save a lot of money by building it yourself to, for example, leave some money left over for things like pH and PPM meters which come in very handy in hydro setups. Also, now would be the time to decide which nutrients you are going to use. Have a look at General Hydroponics, Fox Farm, Botanicare, etc. if you haven't already done so. Lastly, although some people do it, using tap water isn't recommended for hydro setups; you may want to look into reverse osmosis filter systems.

There's lots more but those are the thoughts off the top of my head.

Thank you. =]

I was actually going to buy the system online. I'm new when it comes to growing hydroponic, so I'm not very familiar with the workings of hydro systems and I didn't want to chance building one myself and messing it up. If I knew how to build it myself and was sure not to screw it up I would definitely do it.
The room that will be used is an extra bedroom, it is roughly 12' x 15' (but don't hold me to it, I haven't actually measured the room yet).
I'm ordering my bubbleponic system from StealthHydroponics.com, and my system comes with SteathGrow and StealthBloom nutrients (the link to my system is http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=84&xSec=60). I want to grow a minimum of 8 plants, but I'm looking to grow 12.
Actually, the house I am moving into is about 15 minutes away from a local pet store that sells RO water for people with salt water fish tanks, so I was planning to get my water from them.

Actually, another thing I was thinking about was how to cool the hot air in the room before it is blown out the window. I've read some other threads on here and apparently FLIR is a bit of a problem for indoor growers. Any suggestions?

Just read, it is pretty easy to build one yourself. I built an aero setup for relatively cheap ($40-60 USD). Total I spent about 200 including the nutes and 400MH light.

Maybe I'll do that. I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to go with a bubbleponic system. I'm torn between Bubble and Aero. I want to grow 12 plants.
