Starting Fresh First Time Grower

okay so this is going to be my second grow... the first one was a failure from bag seeds i grew them all wrong... i put the lights way too far and they got all lanky and stringy and couldn't get them to do much else besides grow higher... so i killed those babies and am starting over...

the setup:

i have a 5 plant bubbleponics system with rockwool cubes and hydroton grow medium with 3" net pots... its in a 5 gallon resivior and i have florogro, floromicro, and florobloom nutes... i have a grow space of 2' x 3' x 4' space in my closet designated for growing... i have a 18" double layer flourescent light fixture that has (2) full spectrum tube lights in it and i also have 2 42w CFL's with 10" domes on them that are placed 3" away from the top of the hydro system.

the temp of the room never goes above 78 F and never falls below 75 F i have a fan going on 24 hours a day 7 days a week on a low speed right next to the hydro system. i have a thermometer in the hydro water and it is maintained at about 78 along with the space maintained at 78. the humidity level in the space is approx. 45% during light on and 43% when light is off...
i also have a ph test kit that i test the ph of the water before i add the chemicals and after i add the chemicals i keep the ph at about 6.5

the plan:

i am going to germ 5 seeds at a time (i bought 15 seeds of Skunk #1 and 15 seeds of Shiva Shanti II from Sensi Seeds)

i'm going to start with the skunk seeds and hopefully all will germ and if not i will germ more until i have all 5 spots on my hydro occupied

just an update... i did end up germinating 5 skunk #1 seeds out of the 5 all of them germed... i put them into the hydroponics yesterday i have a couple pictures of the setup and stuff i can post

so as soon as they start sprouting out i'll get you some pictures... until then i'm off... peace

looks good for 7 days, and thats a pretty good looking setup..U sure this is ur first time???

well technically no this isn't my first time i have been trying and trying over the past 2 years... i put some seeds in my parents garden outside... but always gets caught because my dad is one of the biggest hippies i know and he used to grow and he smokes alot... so he sees it and kills it and then tries to kill me.... but ya i have done that a lot... then i tried doing an indoor grow but first didn't have the start up capita... or the materials or lights or anything... but i started doing research and ended up finding this killer hydro system for 30 bucks on ebay... and i went to the hydro store and got some nutes... and went to lowes and got some lights... and then bought some seeds from a seed bank... and this is going to be my first successful grow... so technically no this isn't my first grow... but yes it will be when its done..

p.s. new update got another sprout a few hours later... also only 2 out of the 5 sprouted so i started 3 more in my hydro-dome in some rockwool cubes... pics comming asap

okay so after the 7th day i have 2 sprouted waiting on 1 more and i have 2 non sprout... just in case i have started 3 new seeds in my propogation tank here are some updated pics of my setup... first off i have a pic of the 2nd sprout... the next pic is my setup with my new grow box... i just took a cardboard box and cut it down lined it with tin foil... and put 4 holes in it and attached the lights to it... got the idea from someone on this site (forgot who...sorry if you see this) next is another closer pic of the lights... then i have 2 pics of the hydro-dome... with the rockwool cubes... okay well any input or comments greatly appreciated... peace

okay so i lost one of the babies... i had been away from my house for 2 days... and i guess the water level went a little lower than it should and the rockwool cube dried and i think its gonna die... i'm trying to revive it... but i dont know if its gonna happen... wish me luck...

btw... the one that is so going good its nice and strong nice green leaves its starting to grow its next set of leaves... i'll post pics in a week or so... peace

just a quick update... here is a pic of one of my skunk plants at the 7th day after having sprouted... (not to be confused with an earlier pic of the 7th day after being germinated) its starting to grow its second set of leaves besides the starter leaves... and they are purple tint? is that normal? is that bad? well my camera is pretty shitty and i can't zoom in that close or else its too fuzzy so you'll have to wait til they grow out more... i haven't added any nutes just yet... my ph is 5.5 and the water temp is about 79 during the lights on period and about 73 when the lights are off... the temp in the room goes from 73 when lights are off up to about 82 when lights are on... but average at about 78 most the time because i keep the door open to circulate fresh air in there... okay enough talking here's the picture...also i forgot to add... as you can see... to the left (you cant really see the plant but you can see the hydroton rocks) i have 2 more sprouts of skunk they are 4 days sprouted not ready for pictures yet... and to the right i germed 2 shiva seeds and they started to sprout and i wanted to put them in the hydro so i put a small bowl over them as a sort of humidity chamber to keep it very humid for just them... well feel free to post any comments or concerns and thanks for viewing.. peace

heres just a quick update on my grow... i like taking pictures everyday to just see the improvement over every day... yay! but i'm gonna stop doing that every 3-4 days should be great!
