Hey gang, about to start my second grow. My first one was done in Miracle Grow and turned out good but looking to do better and a little more organic.

I was thinking about doing 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 vermeculite
OR
2 parts Schultz's "Potting Soil Plus", 1 part Perlite, 1 part Vermeculite, 1 part worm castings add one SMALL handful of Granulated Dolimite Lime

Which one would be better? All of this stuff I can get at Home Depot so it's cool and easy.

Also can I just replace the Schultz with Peat Moss on the second mix?

With either mix, I plan on using Dynamite (in Veg) and Bloom Booster (in Flower) from Miracle Grow for nutes.

I plan on doing Power Skunk under 400W HPS + MH, indoors, 5 gallon grow bags.

Thanks

The thing with just peat moss is that there is really not much organic matter in it, it's good for airation and water retention, but you definitely want to get some kind of compost in that mix, and maybe some worm castings if you can find them.

My mix that I've been using is

30% Cow manure compost or Mushroom compost.
20% Worm Castings
30% Perlite
10% Vermiculite(I'm not going to be putting this in any more.. just a bit extra perlite)
10% Sand

Then I toss in a tsp or so of blood meal, bone meal, and some dolomite for acid balance.. done and done. From soil testing my N is high P and K are mid level, and the soil PH stays right around 7.

With the first option you'd have to do more feeding is my guess.
