question in regards to pruning and trimming fan leaves. should i or not? some say yes and some say no.
HEy man!! Whatever you do!! do NOT remove fan leaves!!! they will yellow and sometimes fall off when you flush.... Fan leaes are like the lungs of your plant.... if you remove them its less photosynthesis happening... if a few fan leaves are blocking light from the buds just tuck them under..... but dont remove them....
If the leaf isnt looking healthy its not the end of the world... and defenatly not a reason to just pull it off!!! You only wanna remove a fan leaf that has been at leaaast 70% damaged and if you do leave the petiol... (the leaf stem) the plant will suck up the left over "energy" in that petiol and it will retract and fall off.....
If you need more concrete info ... ill just copy paste a little part from jorge cervantes marijuana horticulture medical growers bible......
here it goes..
3 Leave leaves alone! Removal of healthy leaves hacks up a healthy plant. Removing large fan or shade leaves DOES NOT make plants more productive. This practice DOES NOT supply more light to smaller leaves and growing tips. Plants need all their leaves to produce the maximum amount of chlorophyll and food... Removing leaves slows chlorophyll production, stresses the lant and sstunts its growth. stress is a growth inhibitor. remove only dead leaves or leaes that are more than 50% damaged. (jorge cervantes, Marijuana Horticulture the indoor/outdoor medical growers bible. P.61)
there you go i hope this helped you make your decision...,
till then ...Keep it green in love and under JAH LIGHT...
