Starting seedlings

I'm hopefully going to start a grow in the next week or so, so I want to make sure my understanding of starting the seedlings is correct.I have a rapid rooter tray and plan on putting the seeds in there and watering it? Does anyone recommend I put the seeds in a cup of water first? I was thinking of pHing the water to 5.5 and watering it with about 350ppm. I would just keep an eye on it and water it lightly when it looks dry. I would then transfer it to my hydro system in about 14 days or when ready. They would be under a t8 fixture.

Anything else I should know?

I've heard they only need water until the first set of leaves, and I've also heard they need nutrients from day 1, what is true?

I don't add nutrains the first couple weeks. But I use soil.

I haven't used plugs either, but I don't think you have to ph until you add nutes in hydro.

You need to do a lot more research my friend. You will definitely regret it. Use distilled water to germinate your seeds. Plants won't need any nutes at all for 3-4 weeks, in most. Growweedeasy.com is a great all inclusive site to read fyi.

I love that site. There is a well-known member on this site by the name of churchhaze who disagrees with you and says seedlings need nutrients from day 1. Could day 1 mean after the first leaves are formed? Possibly, but I highly doubt he means wait 3-4 weeks. The reason I have to post in forums trying to confirm is because I have done research and everyone and their mother seems to have a different opinion. Worst case scenario the seeds don't sprout and I keep trying until they do. Learning the hard way has always worked for me, just a little harder.

Germ them in a paper towel between 2 foam plates with heat on them in a dark room. 24 hours later u have a tap root. Plafe said taproot down in plug or rock wool amd dampen rock wool. Leave dark with heat on for 3 days come back and BAM flower! Go for a week then transplant with ph and 1/4 nutes

If you need to give nutrients from the beginning its because your soil doesn't have enough to begin with. Most soils for growing have plenty of nutes for the first few weeks. I find it interesting that your finding so many different opinions on this. It's actually pretty clear cut.
