Starting to think my setup is retarded. Need help.(pics)

Ok so the space I have is 45cmx45cm and over 160cm tall. about 1.5ft square and over 5ft.

I was thinking of only growing two plants in it and getting the 2 biggest pots I could to fit in. Although I'm now thinking that this is a bit of a retarded idea. I'm thinking the big pots will encourage the plants to grow big and their gonna be cramped in that space. Should I go for smaller pots?

The space isnt finished yet, I have to mount the fan somewhere to blow over the plants and also seal up the right side with some plywood. Half growbox half closet. Retarded as it sounds it works for me. I just need to know if I'm gonna be good with pots that size? I reckon they are close to 5 gal pots.

I think I got the lighting down, gonna have 2x45W blue CFL's for veg and then add in another 2X45W come flowering. So total of 180W in that small space. Waiting on my red lights to arrive and the twin bulb adapter.

Basically wanting to hear some suggestions on how to make the most of my space. If I get two plants going in there will they be able to cope?

should be able to get 2 plants in there. I would start with smaller pots though and transplant to larger ones later if you wish. you can always top or lst the plants if they start to get to big. You also have control over the light cycles, so you can start them flowering while they are about 6 inches tall or so because they will get about 2 to 3 times bigger durring flower. Also you're prob gonna want to get some more light than that in there. I would triple what you're already planning on to keep them happy.

Honeslty more light. If that was my grow space I would get Y addaptors for the 2 hanging sockets turns 2 lights into 4. The I would run an 18-24 in tube CFL up each corners to the plants get lighjt from under and sides as well. all and all maybe about another 30-50$ and your fine. Make sure you get tubes in the 6500 range or 1 2700 and 1 or 2 6500k

definitely gonna be getting Y adapters for those hanging sockets, and adding some more cfls sometime soon. tubes along the bottom is a pretty good idea. never thought that.

so I'm guessing I should go for slightly smaller pots then? I have 2 seedlings growing in 12oz pots right now. would the tiny pot to that big one be a bad plan?

i would grow 1 plant in that space

you would be better off with one plant in that space like moash said.

MUCH more light, for 2 plants, what you have now will cause some stretching and the lower parts of the plant will receive no light, also start with SMALL containers and move on up to bigger pots as their roots do explode with growth and i found out the hard way. with these 2 tips you should be well on ur way, good luck!

dunno if you read my full post, but im gonna have a total of 180W come flowering. also when my Y adapters come I'm gonna add in a couple extra 25W cfl's so 140W for veg. from what I've read growing 2 plants is more than possible with this amount of light. also took a peek at your grow, seems you have less wattage than me and your 3 plants are looking pretty good.

and yeah think I got the message on the pots. gonna buy some pots a bit smaller. the reason I wanna grow 2 plants and not 1 is so I give myself better chances if a plant turns out to be male or becomes unhealthy.

Also how much of a difference will mylar sheet make to my setup? I have plenty of foil around, but I heard flat white paint is better. Is mylar worth the investment?

either mylar or white paint will serve you well, i'd go with the paint in that size area it's easier to wipe down and repaint at a fraction of the cost, i'd also try a scrog in that space with 1 plant, take a couple of cuttings off each and once they're rooted start them on 12/12 no special area needed for this just a cupboard to put them in for the dark period and a windowsill or a couple of cfl's for the lights on period once you know there sex you can proceed accordingly, with you only having the 2 plants i'd definitely sex them first just in case you do only have 1 fem you can get the most out of her or even chop her up for clones and run a mini sog?
