Starving Plants VS "Other"?

Opinions? I've heard starving your girls for a week or so before pulling can be beneficial to the final product. At the same time, I've heard stressing your girls is "pointless" & almost cruel to the plant, flushing is fine.

What methods have you guys played around with & with what results, say... starting 2 weeks prior to pulling?

As usual, thank ya ma buds.

I feed normally right til the end. I can't get my head around depriving a plant right at the point you want it to bulk up/ripen finish. Doesn't make sense to me.
I think flushing is for situations when you've overfed and neet to correct it, rather than again stripping out allthe food the plant needs at the end.
I'm inclined to think that anything left in the buds that might negatively impact flavour should fade during the cure. I guess there may be benefits to flushing and starving if the plan is to quick dry and ship out.
Don't really see the point of 24 hours or more of darkness either...
Those be my thoughts.

i don't see how giving a plant just water for a week or two is starving it, especially in a good soil mix.

when they look about ready, they usually get a bit of a golden hue to them no matter if you flush or not. they're done, and they know it. they don't necessarily need any more nutrients, they were made to do this through thousands of years of evolution.

i don't think it stresses the plant either. by the final week or two, you either have a healthy plant that is eager to cross the finish line or a not so healthy one that will still limp to the finish line. if your plant is not healthy enough to even finish, no nutes are gonna save it.

in other words, OP is asking a loaded question.

Well, your not really depriving it bro. Your flushing it in a way... + like said by buck, if your soil is up to par, then you shouldnt have any issues.

flush.jpg I agree. I myself dont flush using all 100% organic. However I do do a 3 day water (plain) towards the last few days. ;)

Yeah, I concede to dank and buck. 'Starvation' was probably the wrong wording. A healthy plant shouldn't 'need' that last little bit. If it's had a good life, it'll be ok no matter what you do to it in the last couple of days.
I'm trying new things with each run, and I'm definately not claiming expertise in the field of cultivation. Yet. ;)

I feed till the end and when ready I give boiling water, this does 3 things, cleans my medium (peat) which I reuse, puts the plant in ferment to stay alive mode and closes the stomatas which makes it dry slower. Once boiled I leave it under the lights for 3 days to insure it has the energy to do the ferment to survive thing (which ALL plants do when starved of O2) I then chop it, when it dries it will compare to a bud with a 1 or 2 week cure

IOW this speeds up the curing process

Normally I push all the way to the end. No flush or anything.
Anybody that knows me knows I LOVE experimenting and this boiling water thing is next. I pull 6 plants every other week so I think I can spare one for science.

Flushing is one argument, but starving? Of course. That's how the world works. If you don't supply food and water, life thrives.
