So now you're a thief too. At least it made you feel better, lol

if you steal a pen from a coworker by accident, is it stealing then?
Um, sounds like the answer that you want is in the question that you state

Sorry Coheed and Cambria moment

But anyways, uh, YES, if you STEAL a pen from a coworker, it is stealing.

You don't accidentally STEAL something. If you accidentally TAKE something, then that accident is easily rectified by returning the object as soon as you realize what you've done.

I look at it like this...Two wrongs don't make a right. Our governments are corrupt, greedy, and ruthless. Is that what you want to be? We aspire to be different. We aspire to hold ourselves to a higher standard, yet we forsake our own morals to get back at them? I've known people who live like this. Guys who'll steal from there employer just because they're apart of a franchise and they think they can afford the loss. But when someone steals from them they wanna cry foul. Stealing from the "man" doesn't effect the "man", It just makes things harder for your average citizen. Do I feel screwed? Yes. Do I feel like im on a big hamster wheel at times? Yes. But stealing for retribution isn't going to make me feel better.
Very well put.

It's best not to steal. Thieves cannot be trusted.

Exactly, the man steals from everyone... if you steal form him, yo uare just shareing in his stolen profits... plus he feels the need to steal more...

If you think you payed for, say the lamppost, then so did your neighbour... why do they have to pay for a new one becasue you feel like being an asshole...

People complain about shit services and governance, and then they go fuck up the little they do get in return for their taxes... I just don't get it... its a bit like the locals here who used to burn down their own schools every time they got pissed off... we now have a nation of dumbass beggars.

The council/government has a budget for everything, when a street light dissapears they take money from their budget and buy a new one(for a hugely discounted price), the money thats left in their budget at the end of the year gets wasted on something so it looks like they spent it all and need the same if not more money next year. Thats why roads are constantly being dug up. If every one who needed a street light took one the budget still wouldn't be effected, how many people want a 250w hps light and are willing to climb a lamp post to get it?

why don't you just get bolt cutters and go cut all the copper grounding wires off transformer polls? Then take the proceeds to buy what you want.

Wrong! Im not the only person who antied up for those lights. There are hundreds if not thousands of others who contributed, and when I steal I'm taking from there pockets. Not from the Governments...my own fellow man.

You could say that every time you buy something that you don't critically need you are wasting money that could have been used to feed a starving child in africa, so were all horribley immoral. But we all accept that everyone is out look after themselves and make/save money, the question is how far are you willing to go to get the best outcome for yourself, I'm willing to to steal 0.0000001 pence from the people in my area by stealing a street light but im not willing to steal a pound from any individual person. If I was offered the opportunity to take a penny of every one in england/ america I would, you would too.

Nope. Because I'm a man. Don't bring up africa it just sullies your position.
You're using that as a justification for your stealing. Purchasing something extra that I've earned when I could send it to africa doesn't make me immoral. But you stealing is. No matter how may .15 cent a day children you sponsor.

I dont sponser any children, that's the point. You can go on about people being immoral for commiting a virtually harmless act like stealing a street light all you want but you can't critisize someone for something like that when there are much worse things happening which we all ignore. Taking a miniscule amount of money of a load of people, how horrifically immoral, who gives a shit? not me.
