Hey guys, First time grower here...

Just finished my dresser cab just need to get some thicker weatherstripping to light proof veg side. Will handle that tomorrow...

I have 1 female blueberry gum seed in the germination process i want to know if i can add a different strain seed to my dwc 6 plant 1 reservoir system or do i need to only grow 1 strain at a time in a 1 reservoir system? I hope not as i have 6 different strains of female seeds.

house temp is 76 degrees im getting readings of 86 in the cab... I have 1 intake and 1 exhaust in each room. 70 CFM for each fan. I added the plexiglass to the bottom of my fixture so the heat from the light would not get to the plants... the intake seems to be bringing in a reasonable amount of air. Do i need to upgrade my fans? or add another exhaust?

I only have 4 6500k bulbs in there right now at these temps...and i was planning to use all 8 during veg.:evil: oh yea even better my diy carbon scrubber isnt hooked up yet and im sure that will decrease some airflow...

well i decided im going to replace my 70cfm fans with 200 cfm 120mm fans... i ordered them today i hope they get here fast as i just put my seed into rockwool

These changes may not come, but a few things.

The duller looking side of foil distributes light more evenly and reflects the same amount of light.

Your dresser may need supplemental cooling or divide the light air pocket from the plant or very high airflow.

I did some calculations

3.412 btus = 1 watt

I assumed your volume was 3'Hx2'Dx3'W I got 18 cubes

1 cube ft of air will raise 1 degree approximately with only .018 btus.

1 watt will raise your dresser ~10 degrees w/ no air exchange.

So lets circumvent that. Lets say the home is 70 degrees; if you use a Fan to exchange air at 18 CFM you will exchange the air 60 times and hour. Or create a volume of 60*18cubic'=1080cubic'*.018=19.44 btu required to raise the total air volume 1 degree to 71. So 19.44/3.412=5.7 watt hours for each degree.

so to keep it at 85, 15 degrees 15*5.7=85.5 watts or if you have 9 watt bulbs only 9 or so.

I think the math is right, the .018 cubic ft 1 degree may be off; so can the volume of your chamber and air flow; any filters will reduce airflow but the best way to know is to try it out. Becareful you will possibly kill it with heat; so I'd go 1 light; 2 light; 3... each day untill temps get close.

its a 5 gal res.. i was concerned more about the strains being different as i stated in the first post. Its a 6 plant why would u only recommend 1 per res? I plan to do 2 plants one on each side of the dwc res and cover the other 4 holes up.

different strains may take up nutes differently. If you don't know stoichiometry why are you sweatin? These plants will do just fine with the same nutes.
I was concerned about these things:

5 gal res's ph will fluctuate dramatically once 6 plants start messing with it. the plants roots will get tangled. and will form tap roots when they hit standing water and you wont see many fish bones.

However the plants still do very well in these setups.

thanks ihatefoxnews... thats what i figured... also does it help that im using advanced nutes ph perfect as far as the small res goes...

Day 4 - Blueberry

I am working a few things to get the temps down..

So far i have cut vent holes in the plexi under the cfl fixture to allow air to move through it. I am waiting an hour or so to check temps.. if that doesnt do it i will be adding another cpu fan inside the cab to move air and possible lower temps. Right now its just intake and exhaust.

Using x nutes I can't imagine being able to maintain PH short of a controller. The thing with a small res is this; roots will react with the water and nutes; picking up and exchanging electrons; The PH changes because the plants are drinking; they only way to manage is to constantly adjust PH; using a much larger res; or use a PH controller; or be the ph controller by adjusting it multiple times daily as needed.

Also; not sure how you're setting up your rock wool and neoprene inserts; or how deep that seed was; but you only need half of the cube to get those started; It will take a bit longer for those roots to push through that cube and start drinking from the res.

This is why im using ph perfect from advanced nutrients...i will still check PH to make sure it is ok but i shouldnt have to worry about it other than that...

Should i cut the rockwool in half then?

as far as the nutes go... do i got this right??

I have a 5 gal res... do i add nutes for the whole 5 gal or just whats actually in the res? which is prob like 3.5 gal

It says add 1ML for every Liter there is...

1 gal = 3.75 liters so at 3.5 gal thats roughly 13 liters

1ml for every liter would be 13 ML .... if i want to do 1/4 strength ... about 3 ML per gal of each nutrient?

I am using advanced nutrients sensi grow ph perfect A+B

check out more nute info and mixing.

that package may or may not tell you the PPM; but chances are you will be over feeding; its it 26ml with 1ml per liter for each part; the PPM will likely be high. really high. definitely measure 3.5 gal/actual water use. and I'd probably start with 1ml of each for the first week; 2ml the next; and I'd gradually increase to a maximum of half strength at 4 weeks into flower.
