Stealth grow ideas

Just a thought here, but you might get some more responses if you explain a bit about what you're looking for - where did you come up with that size range for example ?

Any small enclosed space ought to work within your budget. The whole point of 'stealth' is to to blend in with your house: an old rusty 45 gallon drum would work and be inconspicuous on an acreage....but not on a suburban front lawn.

No worries man, just trying to figure out if you were looking for something specific or just kicking ideas around. Personally, I don't think a fridge would really have the right shape/volume (unless you lit it with CFLs maybe) With an HPS in there, your plant would have to be pretty short to keep it away from the heat stressing on the light I would think. As far as using a working fridge, you'd have to maintain a pretty tight balance between cooling the lamp and not chilling the leaves - that sounds like an extra layer of hassle to me.

Still, you never know till you try it.

I was at a yard sale a while ago and saw something that I thought would have made a good grow cabinet. In paint shops, paint cans are kept in a paint locker that has a 'fume vent' that's meant to exhaust outside. This one was a metal two-door cabinet with adjustable shelving and it already had a vent that would have been perfect for an exhaust fan. Something like that would go completely unnoticed in a suburban garage. The guy wanted $75 for this one - about 6' tall, 4' wide, and maybe 18" deep.

What kind of yield do you think I would get out of cfls with a skywalker OG strain? and how many cfls? should I hang them vertical? What spectrum and size cfls? Or maybe a Blackberry OG strain?

In most younger households i would suggest a large speaker. You can get them at most thrift stores for 3-10$ for ones 12in deep/18 wide/ 30 in tall. hollow them out and line with some mylar add some mini fans and your good to go.

Here is one i was playing withIMG_0342.jpgIMG_0343.jpgIMG_0341.jpg

I dont think you could use the fridge to keep temps down.I would guess 4 plants would fit w/out much trouble. A site I used to belong to had a guy who loved them & built several, most used the top freezer as a clone/veg room and moved the plants down to the main section to flower,he claimed to average almost a half oz a week from 1.
I attempted to build 1 a few yrs ago out of a upright freezer the same size as a fridge using a 400 hps but got sidetracked and never used it. passive venting from the bottom,2 PC fans to draw out the top. temps were a little high (+95) & was considering some sort of heat shield or cooltube when it fell by the wayside.
have seen posts here on converting a fridge so do a search.
