You don’t have to water them daily unless they start to dry out. Those are pretty small plants for the pot size. Every other day would be fine until they require more. Just make sure to drench the entire surface and get a good amount of runoff.

Would spraying the the top of the medium with neem oil and water do the same as that?
Lots of ways to control gnats. I just prefer the DE; actually a good source of silica. Gnatrol works great but it’s not organic. Neem oil is fine; no harm to microbes or fungi. I add neem seed meal to the soil as an amendment which got rid of my thrip problem. Neem works better against leaf munchers like thrips than gnats but everyone says it is supposed to work. I get them from my compost bin...it’s a constant battle. A good thick layer of dry sand will also keep them away.

By "dry out" I mean you notice a little of the surface starting to turn light brown. You don't want the entire surface to become bone dry. You can also lift the pot to tell if it's water logged or ready for more.
